I took pictures today!

This one is for Megan with all the 200000000000000s

This is a Marraduna Basque Pullet. She was getting ready to Jump Off.

These are what I have left of the McMurray Chicks I shared with Capayvalleychick(Kim). Partridge Rock Pullets and a Silver Gray Cockerel.

Corwin is so Funny. He is much quieter than the other rooster.

Do you want another? Can you stand more chickens? Of course you can :pop

These are my Cream Legbar Cockerels.

These are my Cream Legbar Pullets:

Bye,

Ron

They are all gorgeous Ron!! Especially my new little girl.. But I may be bias ;-)

Yup, I'm a child of the Debbie Reynold's era too (50's) and am a Debbie (actually Deborah). I usually use Deb with friends. There was another Debbie all through elementary school.

Deb
I am actually a Deborah, too! I went by Debbie until after college. Then laziness and a tiny push for individuality made me change it to Debi. :-)

My Wife is a Deborah. She goes by Deb and does not like Debbie--too personal that is for family LOL.

She was born int 1961, so maybe she was named after Debbie Reynolds too.

Ron
I bet it was the Debbie Reynolds thing! I was born in 1959 so not too long before your wife. :-)

Quote: The Basque chickens are really great. I haven't handled them in a while and she jumped up to me easily. When I held her, she settled in and when I put her back into the pen, she did not want to get off!

They were not panting in the heat yesterday. The Marans and Dorking Crosses were. My little EE even had her wings out. She may have been running around the yard though.

Bye,

Ron

Me me! My turn to share pics. I don't know if they are guys or gals but here they are. :D

They are still more trim appearing than my Orps. They love dust baths. My daughter things there is something wrong with them. :P

Oh no the heck way! How cool is THAT??? So I would need to find some who is selling a pea combed breed or a cream leghorn if I understand right? Then breed that pullet/hen to my BC Marans? The those offspring will give me a hopefully rich green colored egg?
Zoo,
Have a look at the olive egger thread. It gives you an idea of what to expect in the first crosses, i THINK its about 25/25/50. Someone here said blue egg was dominant, but I remember 25/50/25 in my head ( i haven't reread to double check)

AS for being able to tell the chicks from your purebreds... they look VERY alike. If they don't have green legs, a pea comb or a muff I cant tell at all. When I had wellies and marans crosses you could tell immediately who was mixed and who was pure. But all Speedys chicks ( including the mutant marans/showgirl with white skin, 5 toes and a full nekkid neck) are all Marans coloring, no change from the mother. I need to do a comb study and see who has pea combs and who has green legs so I can see who to expect to have what colored eggs. explaining the % changes to people over craigslist seemed to freak them out just a wee bit, lol.

I should post some pics of these guys, they are all in the chickasuarus stage that's always amusing.

One thing I have noticed about my baby marans, is some of the girls get combs, but usually not wattles. If you are all big red wattles you may have all roosters.

I had 2 all rooster hatches myself, took a third to get 2 girls, lol.

Is it open? we were thinking about coming, but wasn't sure if it was by invite only, as we are new. We met up with people at the chicken show in January in hollister??( somewhere far away that casued us to get up early, lol)

It would be nice to see people again. And I could try and fob oes and showgirls off on people :D.
