Have a look at the olive egger thread. It gives you an idea of what to expect in the first crosses, i THINK its about 25/25/50. Someone here said blue egg was dominant, but I remember 25/50/25 in my head ( i haven't reread to double check)

AS for being able to tell the chicks from your purebreds... they look VERY alike. If they don't have green legs, a pea comb or a muff I cant tell at all. When I had wellies and marans crosses you could tell immediately who was mixed and who was pure. But all Speedys chicks ( including the mutant marans/showgirl with white skin, 5 toes and a full nekkid neck) are all Marans coloring, no change from the mother. I need to do a comb study and see who has pea combs and who has green legs so I can see who to expect to have what colored eggs. explaining the % changes to people over craigslist seemed to freak them out just a wee bit, lol.

I should post some pics of these guys, they are all in the chickasuarus stage that's always amusing.

haha Oh gosh! Ok good to know! I think it might get too messy for me to breed them. I am probably better off buying a few OE pullets for fun! I am going to read the thread though. I am a chicken sponge right now.

Is it open? I was hoping we might be able to attend, but we are newish here and wasn't sure if it was by invite. We met some people at the hollister ( or where ever it was cant quite remember now) in January and that was fun. And I can try and foist some showgirls and oe's on people, mwahahah. or quail eggs, I am literally drowning in quail eggs, how do such little birds produce SO MANY EGGSSS.......

I'm sorry your not feeling well, Cheryl. Its so horrible to know there is something and not be able to pin it down, even with all the modern miracles of medicine there is still so much stuff that is unknown about the miracle of the human body.

Hey peeps!

Just wanted to let everyone up north know I have 3 bantam chicks up for adoption. I believe they are OEGB but could be some black chested something. I'm not to good at calling breeds yet.

But... they are all feathered out, they are really healthy and super active.

The reason I'm giving them up. I just got them a few weeks ago, I didn't realize I'd be getting more birds as quick as I have, (duh...lol) but now I have on top of the original 2 golden sex links, 4 RIR and a very handsome dorking/americuana (Thanks to Ron!)I just placed an order for 10 Barred Rocks and 15 jumbo Cornish cross. Lol SMH Crazy!

Well I don't really think its fair for the 3 little bantams to be bossed and bullied around by the bigger chickens. I've seen 2 of the younger RIR pullets chasing the bantams around. Must be adolescent tensions or something but I would like to find a home for these guys before it really gets croweded for them.

I have a few weeks before its crunch time and they HAVE to go so if anybody has any room or upcoming spots in there coops for these chicks, your more than welcome to them.

Im in Anderson, right outside of Redding.

I have these little ones on craigslist as of today, up for trade for anything chicken related (bedding, feed... etc) but since I was blessed with a very nice rooster from Ron, I'd be more than happy to give them up free of charge to any BYC member near enough to swoop them up!

Like I said I have a few weeks before they really have to go so I'm not rushing.
