California - Northern

My affectionate term for a kitchen supply store, it can be a frou frou one, all the way to resturant supply. I love to poke through and find all the things I can't live without that I didn't even know existed!

I love the hardware store in downtown Placerville! My BF lives on property outside of Placerville and we always try to get to the hardware store when we are there visiting. You just never know what treasure you might find there!

trying... to... resist... ordering... more... chicks...

there are just so many fabulous kinds! now i see how some of you have gotten up to 200+ chickens... I've got six now, and four on order for a 8/15 hatch, BUT the breeder is unsure one of the breeds (the cream legbars) will have good enough hatching success -- so now i'm looking around at other possible chicks to get at the same time, and OMG there are way too many cool ones to consider. how on earth am i going to keep this to a reasonable number?!?!

(of course the coop/run size is ultimately the limit, but i kind of overbuilt it, 8x4 henhouse inside 8x12 coop -- probably space for more chickens than i reasonably should have.)

surfing breeders' websites and daydreaming,

This is how I went from 6 to almost 30. :D

but i'm only a single-person household! i'd be swimming in eggs!

seriously, list of breeds i like includes the cream legbars & lavender/blue orpingtons that are already on order, plus lemon cuckoo orpingtons, basques, swedish flower hens, blue splash marans, blue andalusians (do you detect a blue theme here?), silver or coronation sussexes, and those groovy isbars with the green eggs.

*totally losing it*,

Its fine just join IA ( incubators anon) When we first found an abandoned duck on the side of the road that lead to chickens, I told DH his bird budget was ten bucks. how he is laughing at me now...

And speaking of cream legbars! I cant stand it anymore, I need some. Auto sexing rocks and I must have it. Anyone have babies or eggs I can buy? Id prefer to drive and get them rather then ship, and you are all closer then San Diego. Ideally sometime in early September so I might have eggs in the spring.

Gosh I know what you mean. I have 3 breeds. 3 breeds and less than 30 chickens. I would have to say I am exerting quite a lot of self control. LOL

I am eyeballing cream legbars, basques and welsummers. I would also like some bantams.
