California - Northern

My guess at this point is one boy and two girls. Big changes are coming for them!

Ron

that would be better than my early guess, which was two boys and a girl (or all boys -- they're so huge! but i realize that's in part the breed).

i've still got a few isbars coming from Jordan Farm (assuming they survive the shipping process), and am TRYING to resist getting any additionals -- i'm going to have quite a varied flock! only one or two of each, most likely, but a total of 8 breeds...

thanks!!

Ok, CL score of the day! TWO brinsea 20's for 50! A gentleman at Berkley Uni was raising ducks for his thesis and is done, so off home they went.

There is also someone in Santa Rosa giving away a flock of mixed layers that are 15 mths old if anyone has a spare pen ans wants a lot of eggs.

I have 4 guinea keets that have hatched from the 12 I got from the incubator fiasco, still 4 more eggs in there so could end up with more(if anyone is looking for guineas let me know! so cute, so loud!). None of the pheasants made it. none of the August swap eggs did either except for the ones I put under my broody hens. Those I cant candle because I want to keep both my eyes. we managed to get the Cream legbars pen built, so no more lugging them into the office at night . Its all wood and semi soundproof, but not really Orlando proof. lawat, fair warning Cream Legbars are LOOOOUUDDDDDDDD.

I hope everyone had a wonderful labor day! I will comment on every ones posts later, just had to share about my score before dinner :D.

I can't really complain about losing chicks, I do have 17! 13 Polish and 4 EE's.
Here's one of my EE's with her 4 Polish chicks.

And the other EE with her 4 EE's

Here's the mom of the little light colored chick in the pic above (I know because she's my only feathered foot breads). She was waiting in line to lay while my 4 yr d granddaughter and I were admiring the chicks in another part of the barn. When it was her turn she seemed to be taking awhile to lay. I worried out loud that she seemed to be having a hard time laying her egg....my granddaughter says "maybe she needs a book!" LOL these kids keep me entertained!!

"Maybe she needs a book!" Lmbo that's classic. Figured I'd throw mine up since we are on the topic of sexing. This is my youngest blue orp chick... Pullet? Her rear... Now my 2 EO chicks. I have a light headed and a dark headed. I was thinking the dark one was the boy and the light was the girl but from looking at these pics I think its the other way around. Top of light chicks head My dark EO

I was out taking pictures today, here are some pictures from my New Hampshire pen.
Archie (the main man - he is the one that went Champion American at the State Fair)

Archie and my backup boy

I love the way these guys glow in the sunlight.

More pictures tomorrow from the SPPR, Icelandic & Iowa Blue pens...

Hi. I just wanted to say Hello. I am new here and was told this was where people from my neck of the woods are. I am in west marin. Right now in the san geronimo valley but i hope to move to point reyes or inverness in the next year and I am waiting ntil after that move to get some chickens. I like to learn as much as I can in advance though so I am reading up. I had 1 chicken when I was a teenager and she was very much a lap chicken. I have wanted to have more chickens ever since.

Deb, your New Hampshires are gorgeous. I am in awe of that color!
