Just a hawk story to share. I was standing outside today and had chickens scattered all around me. All of a sudden, the whole flock started screeching alarm calls and scrambling either for the coop or near by bushes. A coopers hawk swooped low over my head about 8ft off the ground and then swooped even lower over a group of hens hiding under a manzanita bush. Didn't loose any chickens, but the chickens knew the hawk was coming long before I even saw it. I hope this hawk doesn't start liking chicken like your hawk does.
I thawed out one of the EO Basque 20 week old Cockerels to cook for dinner. I am going to make Chicken Tika Masla but need t wait until tomorrow. I forgot that I need to marinate the chicken.
Here is a picture of the cockerel cut up. The breast halves are split in two. The Back is split and on the right side.

Went to pick up a couple of FCBM's today and came home with a Swedish flower hen, a blue orp, a frizzled polish, and two FCBMs. Thanks @Chiqita! The babies are eating their dinner now. Didn't want to tell my MIL, who will be leaving in the morning, what I was up to today. Sat down to dinner...and oh the peeping! Had to listen to music a little louder than usual; so far so good!
What am I thankful for this Thanksgiving? I'll never have to go through another one like this. My kitchen remodel is about two weeks away from completion.
The microwave, dish storage, etc.
My cooking area
The secondary oven has been installed! It's not trimmed out yet, but I'll have a place to roast the turkey!
Notice no water yet to the sink?
The dishwashing station, coffeemaker & toaster...........
I just have to keep telling myself.....................it will be so worth it when it's done!
just found out that the USPS lost my shipment of eggs from the last auction I posted: 6 jubilee orp eggs, 9 SFH, and 6 Cream legbar eggs. Unreal! so bummed! well not as bummed as the auction winner i'm sure. gonna have to replace them in the new year when everyone resumes laying. Thanks post office
Dang, this one makes me want a cat again. But I don't want a litter box and indoor/outdoor doesn't work for me - we have lots of poison oak and I get it really badly.
