California Quail Trio + Should I try hatching this time?

No such thing as too many questions.

I'm not as familiar with CA quail as I am with coturnix, but I believe they are more likely to go broody than coturnix. If they've started a nest, there's no harm in letting them sit. They may not hatch, but it's probably better than dealing with a staggered hatch.

They may or may not go broody. If they do let them, they may not sit all the way through though! If they do sit and they do hatch, I'd remove them from the aviary and put them in a brooder. It's just too easy to lose the chicks to too many uncontrollable factors.

I am glad I came back to this thread because I missed that link! Thank you for sharing it, it was very interesting. Your setup looks really cool (and I expect it has changed a bit as that was what? 2 years ago?)

My girls have quite the collection now, 11.

If they were to brood I am really tempted to let them raise the babies.
A family member showed me a video the other day of someone's valley who hatched something like 13 babies!
But I am thinking about taking this lot of eggs out, the eggs are going to be due when I am away if they start sitting this week. It seems a shame to waste the eggs though, I might try to find some else who'll try and hatch them.
