Very nice.... You're gettin there!
Thanks. Yes, out of 7 I now have 6 layers. Is so nice to be getting more than 2 or 3 eggs a day again. I am adding 3 more pullets at the end of this month, purchasing from carriebain. A black copper marans, blue copper marans and a blue (or black) laced Wyandotte. They will be 8 and 6 weeks respectively. So by this summer we will have 10 layers!!!!!

We put white Christmas lights out around the run. They still go into the coop when the sun goes down. But we are getting 60% to 80% from 13 hens.

That's what I did, white Christmas lights. They took a break when they were molting which I expected, but they haven't picked back up yet. I have a bunch of pullets I'm growing out right now, around 40 of various breeds and mixes that I hatched or bought in Oct-Dec. I'm going to wait until some of them start to lay before making any decisions but I'm thinking a lot of my 8-14 month olds will go. I'd like to only have around 15 of various breeds for the eye candy, but they have to be good layers. Looking pretty isn't enough, not unless they are happy just free ranging for their feed.
