Hello everyone! New to BYC but not to chicken raising. Had chickens for 13 years until downsizing happened. Now that I'm in a position and a place that can have chickens I'm getting back into the game. I found a wooden playhouse that I'll be converting into a chicken coop, (sorry didn't take pictures before it was dismantled) getting an old dog run from my father-in-law that will be turned into a chicken run. I am looking for suppliers of feeders, waterers and of course chicks in the Riverside area. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you! Rachel

Hi Rachel, and Welcome!
Like many others on this site, I have a variety of pullets/cockerels available for local pick-up.
Enjoy!

Welcome.

We have a meet-up in Valley Center (near Temecula) at the end of the month.

Before rushing off and buying, it may be a great place to get some well looked after birds.

Iy get discussed here but the San Diego thread is a little more active on it

I'm not quite sure how a meet up works...

We only want pullets, by zoning laws we can have up to five chickens and plan on having that full amount. For this reason I know that we will most likely need to get some older chickens. We really like Easter Eggers, Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds.

I do have started stock, including Cream Legbars, Easter Eggers and Olive Eggers that are right at POL or have been laying for a few weeks.

This forum as well as the meet up message board for the Los Angeles Urban Chicken Enthusiasts (LAUCE) will have lots of resources for chicks and started stock. As the spring hatch is well underway, you may be able to find just what you want, and then some =)

Besides the meet-up in March (?) there's also a poultry show in April in Ventura. A meet-up is an informal gathering of people with a mutual interest, in this case, chickens!

:welcome. There will be a meet-up in Norco on either April 12 or 19th, the date won't be final till March.
Meet-up work like this: everyone brings chickens/chicks and other assorted goodies and we all get together and talk "shop" sell and or swap birds. You can find pretty much whatever you want at meet-ups. The Spring meet-ups are loaded with fuzzy-butts too! Subscribe to this thread for more info on these. I do the Norco meet which is 3 X's a year.... :D

Ozexpat...tell me more about this end of March meet-up please?
