Just joined BYC. I live in Bakersfield on 2 1/2 acres. My sons live in Nipomo & Goleta. One teaches in SLO & the other farms. Been to Norco many times for endurance rides & horse clinics. Our chickens are due to arrive I in March from Ideal. Can't wait. Coop is done, now we're just waiting

Have you had chickens before?

What breeds are you expecting in March?
Good luck with your new babies! I also have a couple new juveniles (not chicks) on order for Spring 2015 which will bring my flock up to 5 which is the maximum we are zoned for.

Thanks for the welcome! It's been a long time for chickens, so I'm a newbie. I ordered 2 of each: barred Hollands, Easter eggers, Wyandottes, buff orpingtons, Australopes, Welsummers, Delawares, light Brahmas, & red sex links. I should have a lot of variety & colors in my flock! After we've finished our cool & run I'll post some pics. My husband has done an amazing job

Good to hear. I'm having nightmares already about them sitting in the post office & they're not even coming until March 4th! I don't want a box of dead chickies

I'm in Anaheim and the usps brought mine straight to my door! Mine came from NC, and all 4 girls arrived healthy and peeping.
