Hey Everyone from Pasadena! We're soon-to-be adopting a pair of laying hens from an old work friend and I'm madly soaking up as much knowledge as possible before we visit them to say yay/nay. BYC is AWESOME! I've been lurking for about a week, but had to register and give you all a shoutout and thanks from a city boy who's about to take the plunge.

@fargosmom I'm relieved to know that someone else from "The 'Dena" is also raising chickens. I looked up the ordnance and it seemed like it was okay, but better to be safe than cited.

@froggieshiens I'm going to start a thread soon with pics of the area we're thinking of chicking-up and make sure we're on the right track. Hope to have some great before/after shots to show off.

@Darlasmum Thanks! My wife and I are both completely new to this, so we won't be shy to ask for help when we need it.

Where do you locals get your feed & supplies from? There are a few places near the Equestrian Center I was going to try first, but if there's something closer or better, I'm all for it!

Fargo & Darla will have to help you with that. I live over by the 60/605 freeway and there are TONS of feed stores here with everything you could want for your chickens, but Might be a tad too far for you? LOL
Do you know what breed/s of chickens you are getting?
Do you live on a city lot? [I do]. I gab alot.....

No clue what kind they are. All I know is "they are a pair of well-behaved hens"... Good enough for me! Lol!
More suburbia than big city. I've grown up with dogs, rats and a rabbit as pets. My cousins had some chickens when I was a kid, but all I remember of them is that we weren't allowed near them. (Big load of good that does me now.)
