Hi everyone, I'm in Oceanside. Started with four week-olds last year, and now we've added to the flock. My sussex just started laying a couple days ago, her eggs are small by comparison.

Hello to all Im located in Oxnard California in the Ventura county

I used to raise chickens , but now im into quails

I love quails
easy to care for

easy to keep clean
 
I have regular size chickens, bantams and quail. The quail are in my aviary with my finches and they keep the bottom of the aviary cleaned up of bird seed. They get along just fine also.
 
i have for sale is a experienced silkie hen she has hatched babie chicks so she is a great mother she is $20 also for sale is a
pure white 5 and a half month old silkie rooster very kind bird $10

and 1 silkie mix rooster he is a mix of a easter egger rooster and a black silkie hen $10

OMG so i have to say it is Hot in Ramona today, I think it is 96!!! I had the seramas out in the grass for a bit and just put them back with the Misters!!
 
Yesterday the temperature here in Ridgecrest was 109.6 F

All of my birds did fine in their shaded runs but sure do like when I wet the ground for them. But I think that they are interested in the bugs they can find when they come toward the surface. Even my baby banties are Ok, I am not saying that they like it but they do OK.
 
I think it was ONLY in the mid ninetys here, my gremlins have shade cloth on their run and a commercial fan running [I got at a garage sale for 5 bucks]. They would go sit by it sometimes..smarty birds! I guess they are spoiled....
