Hi, yall. One of my new bsl hens has a very watery eye. I'm keeping a close watch on her for now. What do I need to look for and/or do? Thanks.
Thank you, I know but I try to stick with those who are close. I only trust those in So. Cal. unless they are politicians. LOLReally should post on Emergencies/illness BUT............. could be anything from an irritation to a respritory infection. For right now isolate, and keep a watch for ANY changes..... like the other eye starting to water, or the lid staying closed all the time, or the nose starts to run.
She could have gotten pecked in the eye too...
IF you have medicated eyedrops [even if they are for humans/ dogd/ cats] you can put that in the eye.... hope that helps.![]()
She hasn't laid any eggs that I know of, but the dark pink egg 3rd from the right came from someone, she is the only candidate old enough, and the others are spoken for.hosspak..... that sure looks like a game bird or a game mix to me, what color legs does she have?
I will be there tomorrow, I will be the one with chicken poop on my shoes...isolate it if you can.
it could be anything from a cold to fowl pox to a nasty bug.
if you are coming tomorrow and are not totally "organic" i will get you some chicken antibiotics - I just got a delivery today of dimethox. and tetrox. They will take care of almost any bacteria.

Saw this today on BYC...I didn't know that!! Thank you so much!!![]()
@hosspak, I have 4 easter eggers that look just like your chicken, with pea comb and green/gray legs. Easter eggers, depending on its parentage, can lay various shades of green, white, pink, olive, even brown eggs. I am 100% sure your chicken is an easter egger. She hasn't laid any eggs that I know of, but the dark pink egg 3rd from the right came from someone, she is the only candidate old enough, and the others are spoken for.
I believe her legs are green/grey.
That's what I'm hoping for.... I hope to find a blue egger today at the meet up. And maybe a blue marans or blue Ameraucana.@hosspak, I have 4 easter eggers that look just like your chicken, with pea comb and green/gray legs.
