Rick, does your wife share your interest in chickens? My hubby could care less, he thinks I'm crazy......
That's a good question. I have difficulties interpreting her signs. In your womanly opinion, what does it mean when she rolls her eyes....a lot... She enjoys the garden, but I do most of the work. She can't eat eggs and is deathly afraid of birds so she won't go near them. (OMG, heaven help her if a Humming bird whizzes through)

I have a sweet young EE rooster to give away. He has been hand raised and is not aggressive at all. I wish that I could keep him, but he will start crowing someday and the neighbors will start to hate me. Everyone in my flock is healthy. He has been marek vaccinated. I'm leaving for thanksgiving on Wednesday. I'll be traveling on the 15 south of poway to the 8 and then on the 8 east all the way to AZ. If you live close to that route, I can deliver him. He really is wonderful and we are very sad to not be able to keep him.

he is very beautiful! Good luck finding him a home! Try your local feed store, sometimes they will help you place him, even if it's only hanging a sign on their bulletin board!

Today we move our small coop out of the run and into the garden. Now that So. Cal. is moving into cooler weather and some of the tomatoes are gone, it's time to put the girls to work...

The coop fits over the semi-raised beds pretty good. My Granddaughter spread out some old litter from the run and added some new shavings to help dry up the soil from the rains.

My Grandson and I connected the mobile watering and nipple system.

We moved our 3 Buffs and a Black Sex link into the coop. It might be a little tight, but these 4 seem to sleep in here anyway because the others are still a little peckish. I'm hoping this urges them to start laying.... So they don't keep free-loading...

If I could find another coop just like this, I think things would be perfect...
