I'm in northwest Orange County and have had Dr Zambrano as my primary vet for years. The reason, other than being an exceptional doctor, is that she has a mobile practice! Complete surgical, too.

Treats chickens?

Yes, she treats chickens. I appreciate the fact that she sincerely values what you have to say, and she isn't pushy with meds. I have had my chickens for only 3 months, but she was here for my other pets and checked the chickens; I told her that one was wheezing slightly, so she checked the bird and took a fecal sample.

There is a fee to come out, based on the distance to your house; in my case, the cost is about the same if I took my two labs in to a brick and mortar vet vs having Dr. Z come out to see the two dogs. The best part - no sitting in a waiting room with other animals.

So the bantams have seemed to come around in a big change since administering the meds. How long should I keep them separate until letting them back into the main flock.

Thanks for the info! I would definitely have to take mine in because I am in the San Bernardino mountains, but its good to have recommendations. I haven't found a vet in my area so far, so I drive where I need to go! I have a Bantam Cochin that is an indoor girl and our pet

I used to live in OC and have a vet for her there...but office hours are limited so it can be hard for me to get her there when I really need too!

I have a Dr. Z (Zabihi) too at the Duarte-Azusa Animal Hospital -- very 1st office visit usually free but any meds are add'l cost. My Dr. Z is in Duarte at corner of Las Lomas and Huntington Drive and has been my chicken vet for a few years -- park rangers bring him injured wildlife of all kinds plus he's had experience working in the poultry industry. There is another all-animals vet in Covina near the Metrolink station that I have to find out if they might see chickens too. If Dr. Z goes on vacation his intern vets don't do birds and I want to line up a backup vet. I suppose pure avian vets are very good but I found most of them in our area or OC too pricey -- especially the Pasadena ones.

Don't know what San Bdno mtn area you're in since that's a vast area but our Dr. Z at the Duarte-Azusa Animal Hospital (cats/dogs/exotics/birds) is another to add to your list of vet contacts. He's been seeing my chickens for a few years. He doesn't refer patients that need surgery -- he performs his own surgeries.
