I love the chicken breed and was given 2 roosters. However my neighbor is not happy with them. So I must find another home. Is anyone interested?

Location: El Cajon, CA
Roosters name: Samuel and Eli
Breed: Backyard
Weight: medium
Age: 2 years
Size: medium
I picked up both of these guys at the same time. They have lived together all their lives in the country. I brought them into the city.
All my neighbors are ok with them but one neighbor insists on their departure. I need to rehome them.

See if BlackHensFarm.com can recommend a solution. Years ago they used to rescue chickens but not sure now. Their website is still up.

It is with heavy heart that I have to type this... but I have to move away soon, and where I'm going doesn't permit having pets. I am so devastated but I have no other choice. Is there anyone who wants to adopt 3 female pekins and 1 muscovy male? I am willing to make the commute. Please help

Hey everyone! New guy here, and I was thinking about starting my own flock in my backyard. Some other awesome BYC members already threw some useful info my way, but I had another question, namely:

What permit is required to own chickens in a residential area? Sorry this is such a rookie question, I am just having a hard time finding any mentions of a permit to own them elsewhere!

Depending on your city, each Code will specify how many you are allowed to keep. What you’re zoned’ for. Some cities don’t limit the number, some give a number and some don’t allow them at all. You should be able to check your city’s Code Enforcement website to see what your rules are.

Keep in mind that even if you find out that your area allows poultry, if you have just one neighbor that complains about your flock, you may face fines or disbanding your flock. We happened to have neighbors that didn't complain about our 4 backyard hens, but old neighbors die or move away and new ones could possibly complain. So far we've had our birds for 11 years and keep the yard clean and hush a hen's egg song just to be safe and not annoy any neighbors. We've been lucky so far but new neighbors can always change things.

If you can't find permit information online you could give your city a call. With my job I have to call the cities for random things and typically they are very helpful.
We didn't need a permit for our birds, but as @Sylvester017 said you'll need to keep in mind your neighbors. I double checked with mine before we got them, one of my next door neighbors is a vet the other thought chickens were so cool and were excited for me. I hope if either ever sell their house the new owners see and hear the chickens.
Chickens are loud btw even if you don't have a rooster. I didn't realize how much chicken screaming there would be...they have a huge backyard, coop, and run to play in and they still scold me when I go outside.
