I got in touch with Purina and they sent me a list of places that carry Purina brands, but not necessarily Flockraiser. They said the distributor should be able to order it for me. I will speak to a local store to see if they will follow up with the distributor for me.

Star Milling, a feed manufacturer in the area, seems to have the biggest share of business with its products.

Hello everyone! I just found the website/blog and wanted to join the group. I just started with my chicks, I have two that are 4 weeks old and two more that are 3 weeks old. I am completely obsessed with them. I had no clue they would be this fun. Here is what we have:

Rhode Island Red - Gregory Peck (goes by Greg)
Golden Laced Wyandotte - Henna Penna (named by my 6 year old niece)
EE - A'dee (as in chick a dee)
Buff Orpington - Juicy Lucy

We live in the unicorporated area of Santa Ana, close to Orange Hills and Tustin. It turns out my next door neighbor has chickens too. That was a pleasant surprise.

I love that the chicks have personalities and some pet traits. Greg likes to hang out on my shoulder as much as possible. But, the best thing to watch is when they find a bug. It's like watching a chicken circus.

Looking forward to learning all about everyone's chickens!!

Hello,
I am new to this group and my husband is building my chicken coop as I type. I have never had chickens before and my neighbor is giving me 5 chicks in two weeks. Looking for people who lives in Ventura area. We are very excited about having chicks.

Is there a central coast thread? If there is I can't find it and I'm lonely not feeling part of Northern or Southern California?

Lotsapaints.....

Hey, there is someone out there. Yes, lets make our own thread. I'll post it. Should I say it goes from Santa Maria to Monterey on the coast? Then inland including Buelton, Solvang to Paso Robles? Not sure about Santa Barbara. What do you think? I'll get out my map. There are a lot of people in this area raising chicks. I think we should provide them with a "family" to talk to. Yes, windy here. Expecting rain. My year old hens are not phased by the weather. Take care of your little ones!

I'd include Santa Barbara and I agree Salinas/Monterrey let's see who shows up. Just sprinkling right now I need to paint the new juvenile coop my 6 week old ones need more room. My projects are Delawares, Marans and I thought Partridge Rocks but the ones I have are not uniform at all so if I keep any they will really be a project.

Lotsapaints - I started a tread for Central Coast Californians. So, all you out there that live between Northern California and Southern California, Monterey to Santa Barbara, and parts inland, join us. We live in a wonderful place and have lots to share!
