Wow, what a long thread.  I'm in Oceanside.  I see you all are meeting up on Sat.  How often do you do that?  

To answer your question I would say 3-4 times a year.....There are meet-ups in San Diego and Norco...Keep this thread on your subscriptions for updates for these events!

I'm in Burbank too! Brand new to "chickening", looking right now to start my first flock. What kind of chickens do you have? Where did you get them? Do you have any tips on local feed stores or anything like that?

Welcome to the site. Regarding your question about feed stores, I don't know about Burbank, but there are two stores in Sunland which very close to you, just on the border with Burbank. One is called Henco; it is on San Fernando Rd. I don't know full address, but I can find out later, if you will have problem finding it. And the other one East Valley Feed and Tack, 11084 Sheldon Street, 818-767-3060. Check them out.

Hay guys guess what? I finally got my first chicken!! Im not sher yet of the sex but I was told it was three months, yet I look at it and it dosent look three months...I will post pic of it tomarrow!!

btw I only got 1, will it be ok that way? or should I find it a buddy?

For me? I totally vote buddy.... but that's just me. They are flock animals. Just sayin. Good luck. What did ya get???

not sher, I think its a RIR. Shes pretty noisey. I think I will be getting her a buddy, she seems lonly.

What a sweetie, and YES she will need a buddy...chickens do not do well alone, they like company, that is probably why she is peeping/noisey, she is lonely.....yes she looks more like 2 months tops. Still has some baby fuzz on her head.....
