California Tan from TSC

Does anyone know anything about a California Tan? my grandson got me some from TCS. Never heard of them and cant find anything about hem online.
I bought some also and was wondering when I found nothing. My MIL told me that I was talking about something made up since that’s not a real breed lol this thread has been helpful thank you for posting!

Your mother-in-law is right. Seed companies do the same thing. They sell lots of F1 hybrids under their own names. A few are good, but many are just another boring tomato with a fancy name. The upside for them is that F1 hybrids don't come true from seed so if you want something like Sun Gold, you have to buy new seed every year.

I think hatcheries may want to try to start using the same model. You won't get a California Tan if you breed two if them. And since you don't know exactly which strains of which breeds produce them you can't breed your own. The problem for them is I really can't see anyone getting as excited about California Tans as some people get about Cream Legbar, Silkies, or- God help us all- Buff Orpingtons.

I was wondering if (and hoping) they were a sexlink? Mine is massive compared to all my other chicks and is looking a little "rooster-y", but it's so cute..

Hi there. I purchased a few California Tan pullets from TSC and I do not think they are sex link because I have this ... uhm... situation. All of them look like the second pic except for one.

Oh my! I hope I don't wind up with one of those. He sure is pretty though! Mine have no comb to speak of yet and they are very pale. They are about 3 months now. They are spotted with some black and gray, but they have these tiny tan spots that look almost the color of pale baby poop. Hope that color changes. Still they are pretty chicks. However, I am a Mother, I think all my babies are purty!

:love
