HAPPY LEAP DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone again,
The class that Walt is giving is scheduled for March 25th a Sunday. If you plan to go do you want a 1/2 day class, a full day class or what & do you intend to bring birds with you.? Please report & vote to the "Poultry Breeding & Showing Class in Sonoma County CA" thread that Kim (CapaValleygirl ) started for this purpose. Sorry I don't know how to hyperlink it to you.
Kim wants to learn about breeding & I want to learn about showing & breding & what to look for & how to evaluate my birds & anything else I can glean from his knowledge while I am there.....LOL

OK I've been gone for too long to read every post but I did scan. I was in the Bay Area this weekend and got to meet Pam finally. What a joy she is! Can't wait to visit again. Picked up more birds from chickee for a neighbor (was so sad to hand them over, they were so cute!). Got stuck on the other side of the hill due to bad storms but made it home late last night safely.

KIM that stinks sooo much! I know it can't be helped but WHAT A BUMMER!!! Just bring all the babies up here and we'll take care of them... JK, the trip over the pass in winter is scaaaaary! The memorial went very well. It was quite beautiful! Thank you so much to all that have sent their support via pms. You all are precious! Kim I hope the wait means that you have finally gotten a surgeon that knows their stuff and will do a great job on your arm! Soungs like this doc is a much better bet. And I wouldn't pay that extra hospital bill when you didn't get seen! I know it's not their fault but it is not yours either!!!

Sarah I sure hope you get some relief for your back pain soon! That is something I am very familiar with.

This is the first ever time I lost a chicken to a predator (well it happened in October 2011) but FIRST EVER, no raccoon issues only a bobcat. Huh, seems like the cat population has been growing.

I got a surprise order of WCB Polish chicks in the mail today. From dickhorstman. He e-mailed me yesterday but I didn't check my e-mail last night when I got home from work.

14 of 'em. I gave six to HHandbasket. My three silkie chicks in the brooder now have 8 little companions which first scared the heck out of them, but now they allow the babies to snuggle under them, despite being only ... I dunno.... four weeks old? Five weeks? The silkies were huddled in the cold end of the brooder bin with the babies nestled in amongst them. I moved the babies under the EcoGlow brooder twice before they "got" that it's much nicer under there.

This was a negotiated day off for me, to make up for the Monday day off this week I had to work. So I nearly flew Down The Hill into West Sacramento, during the "storm" I don't think is all that much of a wahoo here at 2200 feet, grabbed the box, headed back home. So much for planning to hibernate in the recliner all day!

Awwww congrats! I have 20 of these WCBP babies as well. They look very funny cause their pin feathers are coming in on their heads right now.

Found this on Craigslist
Insulated metal panels. FREE! These panels were the walls of a walk-in refrigerator (like the kind of refrigerated rooms that grocery stores have -- the walls would be made out of these kind of insulated metal panels). (These are NOT solar panels.) These panels are made out of galvanized sheetmetal on the front and back surfaces of the panel with ridged urethane-foam insulation in between the two sheets of sheetmetal. Some rust. Approx: 4 feet wide x 8 feet long x 8 inches thick. Approx 9 of them. Lake Elsinore near I-15 freeway and Highway74.

How big of a incubator could I make with these ?
