I am pretty sure that I am going to lose one of my Speckled Sussex sisters. I think that she has egg yolk peritonitis. She is obviously sick, hunched over, not eating or drinking unless forced, and the little poop she is passing is yellow. One of my 3 SS's has laid a few soft shelled eggs and a couple other strange ones in the past couple of weeks. Given what is happening now, it must be Arundel. I've had her on Baytril for 7 days but it hasn't made any difference. Yesterday she was laying on her side and I thought that she was close to passing but when I came home from running an errand, she was back up and drank a little water from a cup. I guess that she will make it or she won't. It is sad.

Thanks guys. People away from here just don't get it when you say your chicken died. I've obviously gone through much worse, but other than my chicken loving friends here, the chickens are my only friends. Well them and the dogs and the rabbits and the quail. Geez I'm pretty pathetic huh? LOL I'm doing better, but I'm not taking chicken loss very well. I have always had animals. I have kept dogs alive when they were on their way to being put down, but dang these birds!

Debi I'm sorry about your girl. I hope something good hapens. It sucks when we get so close and them lose one or don't know what to do about a sick one.

On my way to Alameda soon. My neice's 6th BDay party at Cruzi Park. OH joy, more 6 year olds! LOL I checked and filled waterers and feeders last night so everyone is good till I get back. I'm going to give my baby sister a bad time for getting me out of the house this early when I don't become functional till about 3pm. Wish I had auto pilot on my car right now.

Looks like tomorrow I'll be selling more chicks. I have lots of EEs and OEs and the mixed in Lav Egg project chicks, so they need to pay the feed bill this time around. What is it about hatching out so many of these and I can't get my purebreds to hatch. I need to take the Sportsman in for sure, but even the LG's aren't giving me much better. MY FBCMs are maybe just too old to give me more. Was just thinking they were 3 and 4 when Bill bought them for me 2 years ago. Matter of fact I think it was exactly that amount of time.

OK, off to get ready to party weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Then if I'm not to tired, I'm going to try and reclear more of what I had already cleared out back before I broke my wrist. I started it this week, but not seeing as much done as I did the first time around. I just want a decent yard at this point with controlled chicken poop. And no it's not covered in it, but I do have one section of course closest to the house that they think is the powder room. Goofy birds.

When a chicken dies it's always the worst! I'm sorry that happened to you! I hope you feel better :)
