CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

I have three pairs of bantam Polish I am going to bring to Paso for sale if anyone is interested. I have 2 wc blue and 1 wc cuckoo pullets with wc cuckoo cockerels. I can take pictures later if anyone wants to see them.

So mad today. I lost a FBCM pullet. She had just started laying too. I thought I could save her, but she was hurt too badly. All because of a rooster with a high testosterone level! Stupid bird! He cornered her and broke her neck

Kim C & Cheryl,
I was thinking for those of us that have a breed or 2 that are a little unusual maybe we could actually set up a display area with those breeds & information sheets even if we are not showing that breed. Lanae had a table of her Araucanas last year with their eggs & even chicks for sale I think. My son is getting new birds in a few days (Shamos) & he has Yokohamas already. Hopefully I will be getting my Dorkings soon too.
My fear has always been my birds won'r measure up but I have a few that seem pretty nice. Denny is showing severalat Paso Robles the first Saturday in Oct...Oct 6th. I think she said the deadline for entries is the 21st.

Ah now that makes a lot of sense, thanks for clarifying.

Sadly we weren't able to do the booth. We were going to have a nice big booth right outside the livestock/poultry buildings with tons of shade. With my spinal stenosis that I'm dealing with currently I've had to put a lot of "dreams" on hold. I'm really hoping to doing it and supporting it next year though
I had 2 major back surgeries in March and I finally have my life back! After 4 years I had forgotten what it was like to live without all that pain. I had surgery in San Francisco. Dr Fred Naraghi, I couldn't recommend him more! My husband has stenosis also and will have surgery next year. I've also heard it's a pretty straightforward surgery. Not quite as invasive as what I had but it was worth it in return for getting my life back...be able to finish a thought, make a decision....enjoy life. Hope you get relief soon.

Thanks so much! I had L4/L5 discs fused in "03, I can relate to having your life back, previous to that I spent 10+ years in pain (couldn't even put on my own socks) so I can relate. I really am looking forward to being better. But no more feed bag lifting for me!

Sorry to not get to this sooner--I was at the Heirloom Expo last week and my daughter took pictures. She used the first level of the Canon Elph Digital cameras.

Digital cameras are always improving. The new ones take pictures fast and there is barely any delay. If there is a delay, it is usually from the find the face or red eye feature. Turn those off and the camera will take a picture just as quickly as with film cameras. After having bad digital cameras, I bought this one last January and am very happy with the pictures I have been taking.

Someone mentioned the egg entry there. It was not with the chickens but was in the big Hall with the Veggies and etc.

And an example of a chicken:

Get a good digital camera and twiddle with it.

Karen, I like this idea, if it's possible to do. I'm really looking forward to seeing your Coloreds. I wish that Paso Robles was close enough for a day trip, so that I could go.
