CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

Clucknpeck I think was who mentioned it. We just got her old bator for zoo.
Have you made arrangements to get the incubator to her? I could be a pass forward point when the chicken exchange happens!

I hope I don't cry tomorrow. I just went out and got the two lav AMs off their roost and ready to take them to sell tomorrow. Then I went to get Winston my beautiful bantam Wellie roo. He was scared at first, but then realized it was me and cuddled in my arms. OMG! What is wrong with me. I need to cut down on the amount of roo, so my neighbors don't start complaining and with all the rouge roos that show up in my yard, I just know they think those are mine too. Plus I'm scraping to keep them all fed, but Winston was my best little Bantam Wellie and I wish my LF, Cornelius was a pretty. I need more space so I don't have to get rid of birds I'd rather keep. The Blue Copper youngsters are going tomorrow too. Down to one puppy and one to go. Oh geez!

You're doing the right thing.

I woke up to Winston staring at me. He got out this morning. Haven't found any chicken poop in the house though. LOL I hope they accept my birds. They're pretty boys, so here's hoping.

I went out front with the puppy this morning and thought "wow I hoe the fog clears." It was so cold out. I'm almost ready to go drop off birds and went out to pull in the trash cans and OMG!!! I can't see anything other that the houses on each side of me! I heard CHANCE of fog. ummmm Mr Weatherman!? Are you blind? I am! I can see diddly past the tulley fog! I hate this stuff. No way am I driving in this. I'm just happy that it wasn't this thick when Dakotah was walking to the bus this morning. The way these people drive, kids would have been all over the streets. I hope it's supposed to clear soon. Sitting here watching the Today Show and waiting for our station to let me know if it's going to lift. Supposed to be warmer today. NOT!

Still no Sussex eggs! Maybe my nest box is too small? She is bigger than my Marans, but I've seen 6 of them twist and crowd eachother in one box before. Hopefull she'll kick in soon.

It can take two week after they are moved to start laying again. Of course the Barred Plymouth Rocks laid an egg the day I picked them up....

The Chocolate AMs gave me an egg yesterday. The day is young. Maybe later. I tell ya, Dom's don't even stop laying when you still them in a box to move them. I miss those girls especially Aunt Susie.

Broke my heart to leave Winston behind. I have one crappy pic of him

But man did he draw a crowd. Everyone thought he was beautiful. Probably the best roo of any breed I ever had. 5 birds, mostly roos and I still had to add 2 bucks for #80 bag of Gamebird Crumbs. But they're 30% and since I also give the Summer blend I want to keep up the amount of protien.

OK, I'm really depressed. I really, really, really have to find a place of my own with some acreage. I just couldn't see looking for Winston any hens, when I'm running out of space here. More cockerels are going to auction on monday. EE, OE and a Lav egg project. sigh

OK, so the one rogue roo has been hanging in the front yard, except the day I caught him with one of my FBCM hens!

I woke up at 1:03pm. Long night of filling feeders, scrubbing and filling waters, filling nest boxes. Includes the dogs and rabbits too. I slept for like 12 hours and still hurt.

So I still have one pup, Tango, and he waited for me to get up, so took him out for a much needed potty break and to feed him. Then I hear the rooster that's been hanging out front waiting for the hen to come back, clucking up the drive. Then 3 ft behind him comes the hen! Been missing remember??? This roo is a pain. I am going to catch him, but I think the hen is broody and he's looking out for her. But I got pics!!!

The roo and remember there are 5 more exactly like him that get into my backyard.

The hen. I'm going to wait, then net the area I think she has the nest and see if I can catch her and the chicks at one time.
