This is the one I want to go to! I lived in Stockton for a few years. Got my first degree there. Love the area. Looking forward to making it to this year's poultry show but since we live on the other side of the pass this kind of stuff is always dependent on the weather.

ChicksterJo I can see why you are so torn! Shoot, a job is important! I mean you gotta eat but 17 acres for 30,000?!! What a deal! My friends bought here while he worked in Seattle and now he still works there to make ends meet. I mean they are doing what they have to do but it's tough on them!

It has a mobile home (on a foundation) and a shared well with septic. So it is actually house and land. My SO's father wanted to go in on it because he goes up there every year and wants a place to stay instead of staying at a hotel or at a close friend's house. This is very hard!!

I'd love to go to the Stockton show but we'll see who wants to go with (i.e. take) me lol.

You'd have help too?!! Wow. Any way to get it and stay where you're at now to save money for awhile and look for a job up there?

Lancaster down near Palmdale or 45 mins. from Santa Clarita or 1 hour south of Bakersfield

Well I graduated college last Dec. and I decided to go back home ( I went to school in Chicago) so we can save up money and move out. Unfortunately my job ended about a month and a half ago because it was only summer and I only receive royalties from my online writing...but it's not much. I used to make more money writing online but I rode that ride and it had to end. So I have $ in my savings and I'd like to go find work in Chicago (I am starting to put out apps). The BAD part is that my SO got a good job where my dad works, so he is the one saving money now, and he's not sure he would find something in Chicago. Lots of things to think about, but I'm glad I could tell people here. I don't really have people to tell these problems to, besides my fiance and sometimes my mom. I'd like to move out and do things on my own because I don't want to depend on my parents anymore (plus I like the independence). It's just that the job situation is always flip-flopping between my fiance and I.

Thanks for listening to my probs lol.

Always helps to have someone else to talk to. Especially if they are strangers and you just need to talk without them knowing about your whole life. LOL

With help? I'd jump on that so fast. If you found a way to add extra money every month, you'd have it paid for in half the time. I have money problems big time right now, but boy that sounds like a good deal.

Lol, sometimes I want to tell someone my 'life story' just so I can get it off my chest..do you ever have that feeling? I don't know why I do, it's not like I'm that old.

Yes his dad said he would help and then the whole property would basically go to him when his dad dies. But his dad says he advises him not to live there full time (it's cold, it snows alot, no jobs etc etc) but we want to try to homestead.
