Thanks Karen, seems like this group has a nice time visiting on BYC. You are definitely in a great region for chickens. Seems like most breeders I find in CA are in the Central Valley or up towards Sonoma.Absolutely......you are welcomed. We wouldn't even care if you weren't from California but most of us are............LOL
What chickens do you have & where are you? I am in Turlock & have several breeds.

I guess I could answer that question like most people if I would update my profile...I see you have some of the breeds I am working on or just enjoy having - feathered blue & black copper marans, lavender ameraucanas, & nice fluffy orpingtons. Although the blue and green and brown egg layers get my attention, I also keep some white layers as you do, because the eggs set off the other colors so nicely. I also have cream legbars and tahitian pearls - well, that's really just my olive eggers, but they come in so many pretty shades.
Hi to Wolftracks and your purple eggs =)

congratulations on redirecting your hatching efforts...I'm hoping to evolve to that point too =) Reading your words is a good reminder of what I am trying to stay focused on. I have more or less a 5 year expansion plan working towards a refined group and then a lot less of them. Maybe I'll be tired of cleaning coops by then =)<< I am constantly rethinking my birds & moving things around trying hard not to add too many more & get back to where I was (an explosion of birds...LOL).................LOL I am hatching this year after a 2 year vacation except for a few. Deciding what to hatch is the decision now.....LOL>>
Its nice going to Karen's and seeing her birds. I love my birds, but seems like lately I see them and I see work. LOLThanks Karen, seems like this group has a nice time visiting on BYC. I agree. I never know where people are and I always have to look places up. Being out in the Bay for almost my whole life, I rarely went to far to do things. When I moved out here I found places I though were Southern or way North, were mostly in this are. Go figure. So nice to see where you are Jane, place wise & chicken wise........... Even when I don't know where that is I can always look it up. I do wish more people would fill out a profile. It is a nice way to start to get to know others & their interests. I'm tired of cleaning coops. I did 2 yesterday and today I'm dyin. Make Ill do 2 more tomorrow. Wish I had something I could just hose down and that would be it.congratulations on redirecting your hatching efforts...I'm hoping to evolve to that point too =) Reading your words is a good reminder of what I am trying to stay focused on. And dont forget me if you hatch out Lt Sussex. Id settle for a cockerel.I don't think any of us enjoy cleaning coops/pens. My son , Aaron, usually does that for me when he has time to come over & work. I have had "Spring Fever" lately & have been out with the chickens more. I am trying to talk myself into letting a few more go since I have new ones coming in. .................. Sometimes that is so hard to do. It feels like it took forever to get where I am & have what I have...........It reminds me of that song "Pop goes the weasel"...................LOL. I need to call a lady in Modesto that wants more colored layers & let her buy a couple.
