I was tired so the pen isn't done, but will hold for the night for the Sussex. But I'm so mad right now!! I've mentioned the chickens that run around my neighborhood and eat my feed. Well I had to get creative, cause the wind is killing me, so I fastened a wire panel and then 2 pieces of wire onto the front to hold them in overnight. Finally got my phone to work for a pic and came in to see if it was in my email and I need to check before I post. I heard roosters getting into it and got out the door just in time to see 2 of those $@^$^%$@^@%&&$% roosters fighting with the Sussex roo through the wire. There's blood all over his chest. They got a wattle and his face, so I had to open that thing back up and check him. I swear I'm going to find a way to catch those things and practice processing on them!

OK I don't know what happened but it was completely black??? Here's the one I just took, which includes the blood. Just great! Their first pic that took and I get this!

I've noticed that he shakes his head sometimes. The hen lost her footing a while ago. First time I've seen her do that, but he has done the head thing since I took him out of the cage at the show. What could that be?
Well, I went out a little while ago to check on them and see if the wounds needed cleaned. They were dried up and when I wiped him off, the flesh peeled off and it wasn't his. hehehehe I'm thinking he got one of them. They were stupid to go up against this big guy, even in his pen!

I have a neighbor in her late 80's that I've tried to help catch them. She has a huge pomagranant tree and they roost like 15 ft up. They're everywhere!!! I have between 3 and 5 rooster that don't live here, in my yard daily! Then there's one now that comes out front, because there's a Game hen that thinks she lives here, so he courts in my yard. There are also 4 other roos that come to see her too, but he's he most often. There's a small flock about 5 doors down that wanders one end of the block and probably 15 or 20 that cruise the other end. Between them and the dogs and the druggies, I'm liven large!!

Let me know if you want me to help you have a round up lol

One of my Basque hens is trying to hide eggs. On Saturday I found one under the auto water fountain and today I found one under the hanging feeder.

They are so funny sometimes. I got an egg from each of them today. Quite exciting!

Oh mmmyyyyyy.... My eyeteeth just started hurting from the greed. He's gorgeous, Kim!
I wish the hen had had her head up. I couldn't get a pic of both looking up. They're huge. Well, the roo is huge. The hen is no slouch! I can't wait to hatch some eggs. I was so shocked and excited to finally hear my name at one of these raffles. Been trying to win birds whenever I get a chance. Spent less, there were a lot less birds this year, and I still won, so makes me feel good.

Glad to hear he's OK. Saw those Sussex in raffle row at the show and thought they were gorgeous. When you get lucky, you get really lucky! Terrible about the roaming roos and dogs in your neighborhood. Amazing the dogs haven't taken them out. Must be some pretty crafty birds.
They're American Games. Trust me, they are very smart birds and can fly over a roof with a clipped wing. Found that out with my very first ones. My husband had helped me clip and right after he set down the first grumpy Game hen, she flew over the house and into our driveway. We had to run through the house and out the door to catch her. The dogs around here start running around as pups, so they mostly stay clear of them and they attack things mainly at night, so the birds are all roosting in the trees.

ummmm yeahhhhhhh...NO! thought about it, but I'm affraid of heights in the daytime! No way will I climb a rickety old Pomagranant tree in the middle of the night. Not 15ft or higher. I thought she was exaggerating when my neighbor said they get too high to get to. Dakotah and I waited and watched them go to roost and were smiling entering the yard. We're looking straight up and they were high. Dakotah is 6'3" and he was leaning back to see them. LOL I need to see if someone will take a pic for me so you can all see what I mean. The one that thinks she lives in my front yard is not attacking the puppies and eating their food. I tell ya. Pittbulls are pretty whimpy. LOL
