You know, I prefer the color of the lavenders eggs. The BWs seem so pale. Not all of my wheaten, blue wheaten and splash girls have started laying so I am hoping for a little darker color from some of them

It's hard to tell since different monitors display colors so differently but the lavender's eggs do look richer. When I had my black ams I was told that the eggs would be a powder blue and was looking forward to them but the eggs were not what I expected. I really love a huge variety of colors from my laying flock and am trying to achieve this this year.
Will you have some BWs available too in spring? I'd love to have both!

Yes I will have the W/BWs also. I just put some pullet eggs in the incubator from my buffs and a BW and Splash pullet for a test hatch. They are due on December 18th. The wheaten rooster I am using is from Pips & Peeps and my pullets are from Paul Smith.
Here is my wheaten rooster with my splash pullet. I have 2 wheaten, 2 blue wheaten and 1 splash pullet in with him.

He is only 8 months old so I'm hoping he will get even better with age.

Weird hatch. I had to help the first two out a bit. They're wrapped in damp napkins not so they can hopefully get out on their own, the rest of the way. But what's weird is, I candled the others and they're still moving, but look no where need day 21! Hopefully they'll hatch in the next day or two, but that's just strange. Think it might be because they're older eggs? Not that that should matter.

I'm exhausted. I have never hatched chickens in my sportsman. Quail have hatched early in there like pop corn. I had 2 chicks stuck in eggs. Correction. I have a chick still stock to an egg in there. The other is flopping around. None of the other eggs look like their ready to hatch for maybe another day. Don't get that. Anyway I'm tired, but I need to get this little guy out. I hope I can just stay up the rest of the day. I need to get Makayla to school and then pick her up at 2:30. I don't think I want to take a chance at sleep until she gets home.

OH and I have to find tarps. Someone stole 3 tarps off my cages. I know they were stolen, because they took the bungies too. I hate theives. You'd think they'd pick on someone with something better to steal. At least they didn't take birds or rabbits, I guess thats a plus.

hmmmm........wonder if cutting feed bags and covering things would work???????????

Oh and i was just on my front porch and there's long weeds and leaves all over the yard, but they aren't FROM my yard. LOL Yep it's windy!

First chick all dry. HUH???? Oh and you can see that it never shuts up!

This one has me stumped. I have AMs, Olive Egger and FBCM roos out there right now. This chick first looked blue, then lav, now brown??? and look at the legs. Where the heck did this come from? Big Bird is splash, no muff like an EE, but EE who lays pink eggs. I've never gotten a chick like this, so thinking one of the AMs, but she's was only around the blues and lavs. Also my EE who should have been a lav and a blue OE, so yeah. Not sure what's going on.

OH and look at the comb! The other one has one just as big! I can't get a pullet to save my life. Not only that the comb looks like a single comb.
