Welcome to the thread and

I added your name to the first post.

If you check the first post of this thread, I try to keep up a list of shows and get togethers. And yes, you need to come and meet us at the Stockton show next weekend!

I'm in Sacramento!

I'm sorry if it has been posted earlier but this work computer is too slow for me to skim so many posts.
Is there a meet up or get together for duck/chicken/geese owned people in Sac coming up?

Karen I sure hope one of those boys missed the stew pot! LOL Guess I may have to visit you and chase chickens??

There's a farm here, in Rumsey, that sells quail eggs at the farmer's market in the Bay area. I don't know how much they charge for them. They are on Facebook as Happy Quail.

Thanks Capa Kim. I will try to find them on Facebook, as if I knew what I am doing on facebook.......LOL & Yes Modesto Kim you need to come & chase chickens before they are all gone.....LOL
See you gals at the show

Hope you all have fun at the show!! If you can, please take plenty of pictures. :D
I started my new job last week (I'm only a sub) and I have been enjoying it so far...except, today, there was this little girl who was going to go home early. She was supposed to wait for her mom inside the front office, but she just started walking out the door. I didn't see her because she did it so quietly and I was busy doing two things at once. (There are many doors to go out, so she took the back way when she was supposed to go through the front office way. Just my luck!!) Luckily a teacher or some other staff caught her because they were going out the door too.
My supervisor informed me that another girl who had been working there was fired because two girls had walked a block by themselves when they were supposed to wait in the office. She didn't tell me as a threat or anything, just to let me know. Our superior is of course the principal. I didn't know the little girl was leaving (the health aide processed her) or I would have known she should stay in the office. Makes me a little jittery knowing that a kid could cost me my job, when I might not have seen it or known about it! :/ I wish kids would know to wait for their parents inside and not simply walk out the door. Or if they had designed the school better so there was only one front exit (through us hehe!).
Now I am always looking over my shoulder there even when I'm typing on the computer to check if a kid is walking in the hallway. Not much better that my desk faces the other way. :hu

The fact that two other children got a block away and no one noticed says a lot for an extremely poor layout indeed! First thing I would do is turn your desk around. I'm also wondering how a child could be processed out and the teacher or sub is not told? I taught (and subbed) and I've never heard of such a thing.

The problem with turning my desk around...I'd have to ask for help, it is that huge. lol
But yes, the health aide told her to get her things from her classroom and then she would go home. So the little girl comes back from getting her things and starts walking out the building. The funny thing is that all of my superiors, including the principal, were talking together and the principal could have seen the little girl from where she was standing and talking. I just wish they would lock that door from the inside, too. But all kids I have dealt with before today have been very good at waiting in the office and not just walking out. And the nurse should have told me that she was checking her out of class, too. So many things could have been done. But I will make sure it won't happen, whether or not it is in my control...

I was a super shy kid. I never would have asked someone I didn't know really well what I was supposed to do. I would've just guessed too. Sounds like you are gonna have to cover for the other adults not paying attention as well. Get the maintenance workers to move the desk. You shouldn't have to do that. Good luck!!!

Thanks. I'll let it pass. I really like what I am doing, but I am just a sub. and I don't know how long I will stay at this site. Anyway, I'll just have to take on the responsibility of checking more often.
