I have one call duck egg that is on day 20 and I’m beginning to grow anxious. What day should I put it into lockdown? Day 24? Should I put a safety hole and would that be on day 26 or once it internally pips? I’ve hatched ducks but never calls. I’ve also assisted regular ducklings so I’m familiar with assisting. Please pray for this little guy to make it! I will add that these eggs are from my own flock. :fl

Hey, I know you did not call on me but I may be able to help. Are the moving in the egg? Are the making noise?

Thank you for replying. The egg is not making noise and has not internally pipped yet, as it is only on day 20. I just have some questions involving lockdown. It is definitely alive and moving around well. :)

I put my Calls into lockdown three days before when I expect them to hatch, so most of the time that's around day 23 of incubation. Alternatively, you could put them into lockdown when the egg is near, or has internally pipped. I put safety holes in my Calls, rather early (around 16/18 hours after the internal pip) since most of time they're unable to externally pip, and end up suffocating.

Thanks so much! Ok this helps me figure out my timeframe a lot. I’m definitely going to need your help come hatch day. What do you keep your humidity at during lockdown? :)

As you probably know, humidity is a variable factor so there's not really a 'set-humidity", but I tend to keep mine around 70% .
