Call duck egg day 20 (set August 21)

Beginning of day 24! No progress, no drawdown, shadowing, or internal pip... alive and moving well, my humidity is wanting to stay at 55 so I have to keep adjusting it... I‘m getting so anxious and this little baby is really taking it’s sweet time...:barnie:fl

Ah, you have a NR360! Just fill both A and B wells, and don't worry what the number says. I use one for hatching, so I'm sure it will be fine!

What are the other eggs in there???? :pop

As far as a lone duckling, you have other older ducks, right? I would expect maybe 3-4 weeks (at most) and you should be able to introduce to your flock. Slowly and cautiously, of course. If you had a nice hen that may adopt the duckling, it would be nice. Or you may even consider separating the duckling with one of the adults first. Then let the adult introduce the little one to the rest of the group.

(p.s. I like to use a rubber shelf liner on the grate on the bottom of the incubator. It helps with them get better footing when they hatch (especially bantam chickens, which is the majority of my hatches), and it keeps the eggs from rolling around so drastically when they get bumped by others. Just a thought for you.)

Thank you very much for your expertise and insight. Yes I have a nurture right 360 and I love it! The other eggs in there are guineas and one call that are only on day 3. I usually have a shelf liner in there but last hatch it got really messy so I threw it out and planned on replacing it. I never got around to replacing it for this hatch so sadly I don’t have one right now. Yes I have other older ducks, 2 1 year old Pekins, and 7 calls, 5 of the calls around 6 months which includes the parents, and two 4 month old male calls. Yes I will slowly introduce the duckling to the adults. I do have a really nice little snowy hen (the mother) that I might be able to put the duckling with if it hatches. She was the only one to hang out with the two month olds when they were ducklings. Do your calls usually show shadowing or drawdown by day 24? I’m worried, as this little one hasn’t yet.

I think things will work out just fine for your little loner, and you’ll be able to bond with her in the meantime.

I do usually see drawdown starting around day 23, I believe. I keep my NR set on 100 though, as it seems to give me better hatches at that temp. Have you tested your temps? I assume you’ve hatched other times in it, have they been early/late/on time??

That's good. I just handled quick and I'm seeing what looks like slight shadowing in the aircell now. It is still moving all around So thats good. Yes, I have tested my temp and it is steady at 99.5 but sometimes goes to 100. Yes i have hatched in it before and all of the ducklings have been on time. :fl

How long do guineas take...and what day are they on?
Staggered hatching is tricky.
Yes it definitely is. The Guineas along with the other call duck egg are on day 3. I believe that Guineas usually take 28 days. My one call egg is on day 24. :)

End of day 24. Duckling is alive with movement. There is now Slight shadowing present in the air cell, hopefully tommorow it’ll internally pip. I’m nervous but I’ve got my fingers crossed and am hoping for the best. Wish the little duckling luck! (Ps I may need luck too so I don’t lose my sanity :p:gig)
:fl 🤞
