Call duck egg day 20 (set August 21)

I have one call duck egg that is on day 20 and I’m beginning to grow anxious. What day should I put it into lockdown? Day 24? Should I put a safety hole and would that be on day 26 or once it internally pips? I’ve hatched ducks but never calls. I’ve also assisted regular ducklings so I’m familiar with assisting. Please pray for this little guy to make it! I will add that these eggs are from my own flock. :fl

Yes it definitely is. The Guineas along with the other call duck egg are on day 3. I believe that Guineas usually take 28 days. My one call egg is on day 24. :)
Any concerns with 'lockdown' conditions affecting the other eggs?

Yes I am a bit concerned about the other eggs with the higher humidity, but these were eggs that I had stored for a long time before putting them in. I thought i might as well put them in and see if any develop. I have been turning them when I quickly check to see if my call duck has internally pipped. It still has not.

I’m getting worried. Still no internal pip. End of day 25. I can not see it moving around anymore When candling but that might be due to the fact that it doesn’t have much room. I panicked last night because I didn’t see it moving but when I woke up this morning and candled it was still moving around but not as much as it was a couple of days ago. I’ve got my fingers crossed and am hoping for the best. I’m really anxious but I don’t think there’s much I can do at this point if it doesn’t internally pip... :fl :fl :fl 🙏

@Isaac 0 or @WVduckchick any input at this point? Do yours usually move much when candling on day 25? I’m sure I’m worrying over nothing. I feel like I saw slight movements but they weren’t as much as a couple days ago. I’m hope this is just because it’s getting too big to move around. The shadowing is still present and all the veins around the air cell look good. I’ve never candled during lockdown before so I’m not sure how much they move at this point. I really hope this little guy hatches! :fl🙏

Waterfowl tend to rest a lot during lockdown, especially Call's, so just keep an eye on her. You don't want to candle too much, but if you just candled this evening I would personally candle again next evening, and see if there is an internal pip. They can sure make you want to pull your hair out, lol.

As long as you don’t see a big amount of clear-ish fluid, up against the air cell, I’d stay optimistic. Movement can be hard to detect when they are so cramped.

Not sure if you’ve tried (I assume you have, but just in case) with the NR, if you position the eggs about two inches from the edge, with the air cells pointing toward the window, you can candle without opening the lid!

Thank you. I will keep a close eye on her. I’ve been candling quickly in under 5 minutes while I turn my other eggs. I’ve candled once at 7 am and once at 8 pm for both of these days. So should I wait till later in the day tommorow to candle? Yes they definitely can. This has been my most stressful hatch yet. I’m going to be patient and hope for the best. Thanks for your help! :fl:)
