Call Duck Eggs

:welcome

Call ducks are a challenge to hatch! I have some due to hatch this coming weekend.

I would definitely candle them if they are past due, as Calls commonly have trouble pipping and zipping, due mostly to their short necks and bills.

Candle them and see if any are still viable and we will be happy to help you figure out how you can proceed.
Hi and thank you for responding. I will candle the eggs now and try to take some pictures of them to post.

Ok I just candled the eggs there are 13/17 with good movement, the others probably did not make it. They are on Day 31 not sure what to do, i did take one of the eggs with no movement and opened it. :( There was a fully formed little duck inside but the strange thing was the yolk sac was still pretty big almost the size of a small superball. I am no expert but do you think these ducks are just slow to develop or something. It was so sad looked just like a full term sleeping duck. Please help I feel so bad if I am doing something wrong

First, one easy thing to mess up, we have all done it -- is your day count correct?

Ducklings draw in the yolk very late, just within the last couple of days before hatch, so its not surprising that the yolk was still large.
Still seeing movement is still hope though. Were any of the air cells drawn down? I mean, did they look out of the normal shape? Like more scrunched into the fat end? Draw down usually happens within a couple days of hatch also.

I would bet though, that your temperatures have been too low throughout incubation.
