I hatched 11 call ducks two weeks ago and noticed that one duck was smaller than the rest and stayed miniature. Is this normal and will she catch up or do I have an extra miniature call duck? She seems healthy and eating well, but was one of four that I had to assist with a late hatch. The rest are normal sized.

Yes, she eats well though she's picky and is very lively especially with her greens and insects that come to the light. However, it's apparent she doesn't eat the same volume as the others, but I assume because she's small. The big ducks knock her around, so I just put her with another call duck I hatched yesterday and they're almost the same size.

I happen to get a minature "dwarf" they said runner ducking last night

they claims she should be around 5 pounds now but hasn't been growing like the other and she's doing perfectly fine and LOVES to be held!

Yea, I'm certain she's healthy and I like that she is a dwarf duck. If she'll stay miniature perhaps I can pass her mini-genes onto her future offspring? This is my first experience with incubation and my first batch of call ducks, so I'm wondering if this is normal.

see i don't know so i'm not sure either, its just that if the eggs are normal size and they are smaller, would that be a reason for them to get egg bound, again i don't know just something to think about :/ and amiga you can call me buck :)

If call ducks aren't prone to egg binding, I think she'll be okay. I have some micro chickens and none of them have egg laying issues.
