I have a female call duck who turned 1 at the start of the spring. She laid two eggs in the fall and then nothing. She has not laid an egg all summer. She seems healthy and I don't feel an egg like she might be eggbound. Has anyone else had this happen and should I be worried?

Thanks

Hmmm.

iamcuriositycat had an entire flock that did not lay, and after a long time, determined that there was something in the water (due to the new hose) that suppressed egg laying.

That may be the most extreme case I recall.

From what I read and see in my own flock, these things affect egg laying

Environment
Food
Water
Stress
Temperature
Light
Mating pressure (see stress)
Illness

Forgot to mention in the post we have 2 other females, same environment and they lay just fine. They went to summer camp with their eggs/ducklings and she stayed behind with her mate.

I am not concerned about no eggs but am worried that it is harmful to her.

Someone else suggested she or her mate might be eating them.

if that were the case you would at least see her begin nesting or some tiny peaces of egg shell laying around. What do you mean by summer camp??

My son is the Nature Center Director at a Boy Scout camp so 3 of the ducks were living at the camp for the summer. This one and her mate stayed home and had the whole enclosure to themselves. No signs of nesting anywhere.
