Call Ducks Finally Hatched

@RavynFallen , I have a question. When I hatched my magpie, I asked you what you thought his coloring was and you said ancona. Then you hatched a sibling of his, that looks exactly like him, not even second guessing yours was a magpie. Now you're saying @Lacrystol looks to have hatched a magpie, which I pray she did, that has more coloring than most magpies do on her face covering her eyes almost like a mask. You even went as far as saying my magpie could be a 'mismarked' magpie when I questioned you about saying he was an ancona. Yet, he fits every characteristic of a magpie. If anything Lori's would be a 'mismarked' magpie, whatever that even means. So, can you tell me why you told me Cal wasn't a magpie originally? I'm curious.
UH OH, I think you scared him.. LOL

From my understanding it is exceptionally hard to get a true, correct magpie pattern... your pics showed their backs so those were guesses... mine I sent pics elsewhere before I posted it to ask what it was since I didn't know... mine is very much a 'mis- marked' magpie for sure, the cap isn't solid... just gets tedious to keep repeating the whole thing... after seeing it in person, it is easier to tell patterns from pics, but even then I am not totally sure of Lacrystol's, just that it looks like one right now... that could change, as could mine and yours... I've watched a lot of changes happen in patterns from duckling to juvie to adult... but as most of your hatch showed more of ancona markings it made more sense to think it might have been ancona...

Considering your duckling's cap isn't solid, I would say he or she is an Ancona not Magpie. 3 of 4 I hatched were spotted but my little man has a solid cap. Again, to say yours was a Magpie and mine wasn't doesn't make any sense to me at all being that our ducklings came from the very same mommas. By the way, Lori's isn't a Magpie. She sure is precious though.

I believe mine is a pied but yet, the person I got my pied said it could be a mismarked magpie. LOL

So I guess will wait until feathers come in and see what happens. I'm thinking more of a pied then anything. but she is a little cutie. LOL

Thought I was going to have an issue since she kept blowing water out of her nostrils but she seems to be doing better today. She's loving the Stuffed raccoon I gave her..

Oh, I know the feeling! Having two house ducks that are a year apart, they always have to be with me and my pups :) Your little chick is adorable too! Have you named them?
