Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Yep. Just got my 3rd incubator Saturday and it already has about 60-70 eggs in it lol. Although, there's only 12 in the one I use for hatching and 48 in the other :)

Haha I think you most definitely have me beat!!! Lol. I only have uhhhh....lets see....

2 due to hatch tomorrow/Wednesday
10 due to hatch the 13th I think
4 from you in with 4 of mine due to hatch the 19th-20th
7 that I haven't candled yet (SQ calls)
24 Anconas just went in last night

On the way/pending

Swap eggs from you :)
6 paint geese eggs

Nope no sassy and tonight I lost four more, something has to be coming in the yard taken them, I did find a bunch of feathers no not sassy it's so hard to tell right now because the boys are tearing up my girls.

It's due time for my sticky eggs and I have not messed with them still no peeping but I can see them trying to break threw, humidity is still low...

I'm going to start collecting eggs to throw in with the next batch I get from you on swap. They are going to be the last eggs I incubate for roughly a month. Have the inlaws coming to visit so I don't want any hatchings or any babies that are in the brooder. Need it all easy access.

So HEY, Lori and Diane are you two ready for eggs?! Cause I'm going to be sending you some next month :)

I'm gonna need some if I keep losing calls like i am omg, 9 calls in three days wth, I'm starting to wonder if they are flying away, I have never lost so many in such a short period of time...

Oh man. That really sucks. I'm so sorry for you. I hope you figure it out, whatever it is.

Definitely keep us updated on your little hatchers

I hope they come back.

Definitely sending you eggs. Give me a couple weeks.
Lori,

Can you put your ducks in a safe place until you catch the killer? you could set a live animal trap, or put a chicken or duck in a wire cage and circle it with traps. hamburger with poison or glass works too, as long as a neighbor dog can't get it. I know it may be cruel, but I have had coyotes wipe out my entire flock before I set up the aviary. This is the time of year they take more farm animals to bring back to their babies. Once a predator finds a good flock, they will keep coming back, until the have all of them.

These are solutions that I know, maybe you might think one that is more humane. That is why I spent the money on a predator proof aviary, I could not even kill a darn Coyote! What a sap I am!

Anyway I will have a good hatch in 2 weeks, you can pick the ducklings you like, and I can ship them to you. I have been getting nice magpies and spotted. Mary is just getting the perfect round spots now. She will be beautiful. Any ducklings you choose will be free to my mentor of course.

The two ducklings due on Wednesday were not loosing water like they should. I put them in a dry incubator, and they seem just right now. They are in lock down at 30 humidity. do you think this is ok? I can't wait so switch to my new incubator, it is very accurate at keeping the temp. and humidity just where you want it. no need to fiddle with it when indor temps fluctuate.

I just don't see calls flying away. My Mandarins flew off, but came right back when they discovered that there is no duck food or fresh vegetables served outside the aviary.

Peach I will start collecting eggs for you when you are ready to hatch again. My ducks are laying like crazy. I had to get a big cabinet incubator to keep up with them. It has gravity circulation. is that ok for ducks? it also puts in fresh air every 4 hours. It keeps the temp. right where you want it.

If you're able to collect this week that works. After next Monday/Tuesday I won't be putting anymore in for over a month.

That's too long to wait for spots. LOL

THEY CAME BACK, four came back last night before bed time. So I'm back up to 17, still NO SASSY though. I'm hoping she's somewhere trying to be a mommy and will be back in less then 26 days. I'm PRAYING she comes back..
