Could just be my wishful thinking but **She** looks mandarin to me (cheek stripes, spotted toes, markings, correct body size). She's so adorable.

Then what? I have white faced, and black bellied whistling ducks, mandarins, calls and East indie. It came from a tan egg.
What about the eye stripe? It goes past the eye all the way to the bill. I saw a couple mandarins pictures like that. They were split to white.

Looks more like a mallard duckling. Description from "Ducks, Geese, and Swans, vol. 2, edited by Janet Near":
Similar to wood duck but slightly larger with yellow base color instead of white....one dark stripe from eye to nape, another less distinct below on cheek.....bill grey-purple with pink nail.

But it came out of a shiny creamy tan egg! It sure looks like Mallard duckling to me. Maybe you just cant count on egg appearance. I have a gray pair of calls that are a bit larger than my other calls. The drake does not have a stripe around it's neck. Bought them from Murry McMurry hatchery. If they are actually mallards I am sending them back. But the female was sitting on blueish green eggs. I had to put them in my incubator because she just got up and left them after a couple weeks. I put airaconda eggs in their place, but she was totally done with that. One of that type will be hatching out next week. Maybe It will clear up the mystery.Usually mandarins don't go all the way to the nose but don't know about the splits. Could be a gray call duckling too
