Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Perdy laid me another egg today! Now a proud momma of two :) My Snowy was thrown from a pair of Grey Calls! With that being said, what are the chances of Perdy having a baby Snowy? I want another Snowy! A female Snowy so badly! I'm so excited to see!

The patents must have had other genetics in their background and not been "pure" grays. No way to tell or give odds on what Perdy's babies will be if you don't know the exact genetic makeup of both parents. Perdy would have to have snowy somewhere in her genetics for the babies to be snowy. Very possible though. Will be exciting to find out and the anticipation will likely kill you LOL. It sure does me :)

I'm pretty sure Perdy and Pippa (my Grey pair) have Snowy in their genes cause my Snowy, Winnie, is from their clutch, so fingers are crossed! Yes, the anticipation is going to kill me! Lol (;

Well once they hatch, I'm going to bring them inside and raise them in a brooder with a heat lamp! Just like I did Perdy, Winnie, and Pippa! I wanted to let Perdy hatch them though! I have an incubator if the time comes where I need to intervene and hatch the eggs myself! Please tell me anything and everything I need to do with her first little egg, so it survives! Thank you!
First time egg layers won't usually sit so soon, if they egg isn't buried which in your pic it is not, she's not ready and with the cold weather chances are it will get frozen plus they need to mate for some time before you get a fertiled egg.

Yes, they are messy and adorable :) I just love them. The weather has been relatively warm here too, until today. I'm about to bring her little egg in now. Is it okay to cradle it in a blanket and put it in one of my dresser drawers? I would leave the dresser drawer open, so it could still get plenty of fresh air as well as stay warm. Would that be okay?
OMG, you make it sound like a little baby already. LOL you do realize that egg right now is eatable. LOL

I bought heat packs they are being shipped. I have got an egg a day but they keep freezing!!!! I have only one egg that I caught before freezing. Anyone have any suggestions on how to keep them from freezing? There is a heat lamp in their pen but they keep laying away from the heat lamp.
is it to hot in there laying area?

They are seperated and only have 8sq ft of space and they pick the coldest spot to lay their eggs. They have a little outdoor area if it is warm that day I will let them out (Like above 15 degrees. Like thats warm. lol) But, then again how can you keep eggs from freezing when the high for today is -10 degrees WITHOUT WINDCHILL!!!!
Is your heating lamp directly on the nest area? it maybe getting to warm is why they aren't using it..
