Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Well nothing on the duck but my two paints have hatched and boy they are noisy. Good god... Now the same exact procedure as the duck seemed to work on the chickens and that is taping the shell to the turner, laying down style..

Awww. I bet they're adorable. I love the ones that have all the random markings :)

My single call egg is going into lock down tonight. I'm going to hate not being able to candle her lol. This morning when I candled I could see her move in and out of the air space. She hasn't pipped but when she moves around part of her (still covered by the membrane inside) will go up into the air space to where I can see her moving. Cant tell which part of her it is since it's still covered by the membrane and happens so quickly but I sure hope it's her little beak. The egg is so tiny, the smallest I have, that I just know she's going to be tiny. I'm so nervous because she's due to hatch on a work day :( Just hoping that all goes well and if she does need help that it will be after I get home. Thankfully I don't work too far away and if need be I can come home on lunch.

The second batch is on day 13. Had 1 early death but the other 16 look to be doing great. I have more eggs that should be coming next week :)

Any progress on your little one yet Lacrystol?

Not discouraged!! I spent yesterday playing with my 4 ducklings. Love them.

I candled my CA eggs and I think 4 are living but the fifth is dead. The 3 NC eggs are all still alive, candled my PA eggs and 9 out of 13 are alive so I am happy with the results so far!

I am getting older blues in December from Worth It Farms so I can't wait. She's driving down to Tampa so I have to drive 2 hours to meet her off of 75!

Ok I think I may have discovered another thing. My last batch I had about five chickens upside down, so I was trying to figure out why so many and how to avoid it and I think I may have figured out the problem. When you lay your eggs down, I always stop turning mine four days before due date. Butt when you do have the eggs laying with the big end slightly up, so slant your eggs not a huge slant, I think this helps them get into the correct position, it seems to sort of directing them to where they need to be...

I've tried it on my paints and the experimental call duck..and the paints came out at the correct end and the duck well as you know when I candle him his beak was in the correct spot. So try this and see is this helps or stops or avoids any more upside downers..

Wish I had discovered this sooner... DANG IT...

I hate to show you, I feel so bad about peachncrn37 not making it that I feel if I show you my experiment guy, it would be like a rub In the face...

Remember don't let anyone swim until they are a week old..

Sounds like your HD disease is kicking into the advance stage... Lol
