Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Awe yay! I learned today how messy baby ducklings are. I put one of the chick waterers in with them. I went back an hour later and they had emptied the whole thing all over the bottom of the brooder. Lol. Learned my lesson.

Yep. I heard they were messy. Can't wait for the mess though :) With 1 due to hatch on the 31st and 16 more developing, due to hatch on the 9th, I'm preparing myself LOL :)

Oh man!! Haha 16 at once I don't even know where I'd put them all!!! Mine are all staggered a week at a time but they were also all from different breeders. Just found another breeder in AZ so might be getting some more next week after my bator empties a bit.

Question for all, what breed of duck have good eating eggs?
Anconas are apparently kind of sweet and really good for baking, not so much scrambled eggs.

Cant answer that one. Have actually never eaten a duck egg.

I know 16 will be a little crazy but I cant wait. I never expected so many to grow. Thinking about getting more the week after next also lol. I can hardly see my little one that's due to hatch next week. I like to look at them so I hate it lol. I know it's normal now that she's taking up most of her egg but still going to miss seeing her for a week until she comes out :)

We have Pekin, Rouen, Mallard and Khaki eggs and my brother comes here to get them, so I take it they're good.
Khaki Campbell's are a cross breed duck (Mallard, Rouen and runner mixed) made for their egg production, so I'd have to guess that would be the breed to have to eat the eggs. :)

And I hear ya on waiting. I have the 3 hatched and I'm still all excited for the two to hatch Friday. Mainly because I'm hoping for a blue or lavender.

Of course I have the possibility of both those colors in the following two batches so I'm going to be excited next week and the week after, and the week after that. LOL
