Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Oh Thank-you! That will be wonderful! Right now I am only opening the incubator once a day to quickly mist them, and make sure nothing smells bad. I candle once a week to check for quitters. They are due Nov 13 ( day 27). Lock down is day 23. It means allot to have someone knowledgeable to advise me. Even though I studied up the last time, I still felt lost trying to make decisions when things started going bad. Thank-you so much.

The backwards one had a completely clear beak, no black what so ever except a tiny little spot on the tip of his nose, it's sooo cute..

AHHHHHH WHAT IS GOING ON, husband brought in Five baby chickens, I found five last night dead and one today dead. WHY DO I GET ALL THE DEAD ONES????
where are they coming from, I have no girls sitting on eggs except my splash, grrrr where is the mommy who decided to do this to meeeee....

I had that happen with my buttons. I immediately collected all the eggs, ****** the momma off but had 9 more hatch in my bator same day.

Just so there's no confusion the bibbed duck is NOT a blue. What I think is a blue is the duck to his left with the light markings on his back.

The bibbed is a chocolate, bibbed is not a desired trait for the Ancona, so sadly that ducky is cut from the breeding. The ONLY way I will breed it is if it is a female, and winds up being tri-colored which I think it might be.

Other 3 all have great markings for Anconas so think GIRLS. I don't need drakes. :)

Your turning them once a day??? You need to turn them more then that?? Or do you have them on a turner??

Ducks do a lot better if they are laying down and not on a turner unless you have them taped like I did in my second method.

What kind of ducks? They can't be calls if you have them scheduled for 27 days, calls will only take 25 to 26 days.

Also stop turning them four days before lock down, lay them down and slightly have the big end higher then the little end, this helps with upside downers.. Still mist them one the four days before lockdown..

Now you girls stop being so rude and welcome our new hatcher dianne1928..

Woooo hooo go duckies.

Oh guess what? I locked up 23 call ducks tonight, Guess what that means, yep I'm missing One......last time I was missing one I found her sitting on eggs, grrrr these girls...

So which one has a completely yellow beak except a little tiny black spot right on the tip??

Welcome to the thread. My last call baby hatched last Wednesday at day 25. I have 16 others due this Saturday (day 26). Calls don't take as long as other ducks so should stop turning at day 22, but still mist them on this day. On day 23 the misting stops too and by day 26 you should have beautiful little peepers :)
