Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I have 3 pairs of mandarins, one pair are white. I built a heated duck house for them hoping I might get a few eggs over the winter. As it turned out, the ducks don't like the house I built. They like it under the deck. So I had to make it waterproof under there, and put sides on it. They love it now, and the banti chickens got the old duck house. They are laying now. Ha ha.

But I can hatch some of those now. It must be cool living in Florida. Here in Nevada we only have summer and winter. It is between 15 degrees and under 0 in the winter. It gets up to the 30's on good days.

I bet your ducks are pretty. Aren't the black and white?

Thanks for making me feel better. Those things are upsetting to me. It does go beyond making up for it when you get a successful hatch. Life is such a miracle, and the ducklings are so cute, even after they are grown.

LOL. Mine too. They rarely go into the duck house and prefer staying under it or in their pool. Little boogers :)

I heard mandarins were hard to breed and that they needed raised nest boxes up in the trees. How long have you had yours? Their color is absolutely stunning!

Nope... not "COOL" lol. Very hot!! and humid!! most of the year. We get a couple weeks a year of cool but rarely ever gets as low as the 30s, and only over night when it does. My entire family is here or I would have moved a long time ago. Not that I'd want to live as far north as Nevada but a little less heat and humidity would be nice!
