Call Ducks Finally Hatched

You might want to stick to the call ducks, you can fit more in backyard! They eat less, so you can have even more! Maybe you can find ancona calls, and get more of those too lol. Actually you could breed for that color yourself. I think that is how you get the big bucks.

Calls and mandarins are the only ducks I have. Have lots of chickens though so a double whammy lol

Lol. The best thing about it is that I'm almost done with my flock and can now enjoy hatching my own eggs without having to buy & ship them Still have a couple more to add though... mille cochins wheaten ameraucanas and maybe another serama or 2 And I don't have to buy eggs to eat anymore either I have 4 blue egg layers, 2 green egg layers, 6 white egg layers, 5 tinted egg layers and 7 brown egg layers. Plus all the banties. I haven't been able to eat the bantie's eggs. They all go into the incubator. They're just too cute to eat. The 6 white layers are my polish and I haven't eaten any of them yet either because I have people who want chicks. So they're all being incubated right now too My first test egg hatched today

My calls quit laying a couple weeks ago but I have 1 in the incubator due to hatch this coming weekend and 1 in 3 weeks. The 2nd one I got from someone else. I got 7 eggs but only 1 is developing. This will be the 3rd egg from my own calls. As you know, the 1st two didn't make it. This 1 I will be helping as soon as it starts zipping

I can't believe mine are laying so well still. I'm about to piss them off real good when I bring the Anconas home, they gotta hang while we build the ancona pen. Then I will be having my magpies shipped, then hatches every week starting in 10 days!!! EEKK!!!!

Yeah I think introducing the 2 new pair and all the rain is why mine quit laying. They were breeding like crazy this weekend and I found a nest someone built in the coop so hopefully they'll start laying again soon too. Yours might quit laying for a few when you introduce the Anconas and Magpies but hopefully not.

But if peach creates a new color, she could get a new house, acres and acres of land, make a huge aviary, and have all the ducks she wants and more! I would definately buy some! They would be too cool to resist.

I found magpie calls , but I have to wait untill june to get them. What do you think about silky ducks? They are small and cute, but I read that they are prone to haveing physical problems, and a week imune system so they will get sick very easily. Have you heard anything about them? I found some of them close by, but worry about one getting sick, then the whole flock catching the same thing from 1 sick duck. I will keep looking for info. Who knows.

I know he's not a call duck but I'm a proud momma so just have to share. I've never shown any of my birds but have always picked the ones that I thought were best for breeding. I have always thought that mine were beautiful and wondered how they'd do in a show. One of the girls that bought one of my splash cochin bantam babies last fall showed him in her 4H group. I kept his brother for breeding this year
