Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Once they internally pip I give them 12-16 hours to external pip. If they don't I make them a safe hole. If they do, or after making the safe hole, I give them 24 hours to start zipping. If they don't I help.

Okay it's been 36 hours since this little guy externally pipped. So if you were me you would help?

The second one that externally pipped this morning, appears to have started zipping, so I am a little worried about the first

How long before I should intervene? The one that pipped yesterday morning hasn't done anything else. It's still chirping/moving, just hasn't progressed past external pip.

Give them 24 hours to internally pipped, before making the safe hole, then give them another 24 hours after the safe hole. DON"T RUSH THIS. It's there time not YOURS

YES I would 36 hours is a long time and if he has NOT made any progress by then, something is wrong.

Well did you get him OUT???  you have my number if you have any issues????

Sorry!!! I ran in there right after I read your post. Got all the shell in the air space out, wet him down, he's still got a couple big veins that need to absorb. He's chirping good though, position is good, maybe I didn't have humidity high enough? I don't know....

He's good though!! Will check on him in 2 hours and post an update!!! All others look great, with the exception of one that looks like it is backwards, I went ahead and safe holed it. I have a feeling it's going to look like that one backwards upside down sideways one you helped me with before!!! Lol

I get paranoid about them running out of oxygen in there after 16 hours so I make the tiny hole so I know they can breath for the next 24 hours. I'm always a nervous person though and have issues with anxiety LOL

LOL that 12 hour rule applies to chickens really not ducks. as long as there's an Air space, they have air. lol
