Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Spent about 2 hours trying. His pond is about 50 by 100 so once she caught on she just sat in the middle. She is so tiny and adorable I hated leaving her!!! He's going to try and bribe her with food and I am going to head back over and try again later this week. Ugh.

Darn that sucks. I knew it was going to be a tough one when he told me that he had a pond and had let her loose.

Yeah I thought it was going to be cake at first because they were up in the front yard by the house. They had dogs loose though and as soon as I got out of the car the little dog chased her onto the pond. He said the other day the little dog came walking up to the house carrying her by her neck. Said she learned to fly after that. >.<

Thought it was going to be cake at first. Drove up and she was along the side of the house away from the pond. He had some dogs loose and as soon as I stepped out they chased her onto the pond. He said she learned to fly after the smaller dog came walking up to the house carrying her by her neck. >.<

He's going to try catching her with food tomorrow. Hopefully it works. I told him anytime of the day, if you catch her, throw her in a box and CALL ME

So aggravating that there are people out there with no care or thought for the animals or the law. How ignorant. I hope she makes it out there and you're able to get her so she'll get a good home with you.

This thread has me on the edge of my seat!
When do we get more pics of the call chicks?

I really hope that little girl gets caught, it's a big, scary world out there for a lone call duck! Are the mallards flying through your area yet? Maybe she'll find a family with them lol.

I hope she gets caught soon. This is where mallards from the north come during the winter. The ones here never really leave the area. I hope she doesn't get out into the "wild". For 1 it's against the law, and for 2 it's bad for our native duck species to "family up" and breed with non native pet species. Hopefully the food thing works but I'm doubtful.

With male birds, you can put a female in cage, within another cage. The male will go to the female...would it work in reverse?

I was wondering that too as she came from a flock and is now all alone so she may come to another of her own kind. The males are so quiet though that I wonder if she would hear him. I wonder if another female would be able to call her in. Might be worth a shot.

Yeah Im planning on taking Butters with when I go back. She's a Chatty Cathy. He's got two mallard duck decoys on his pond, she was staying right by one like it was her "mate". The rouen male kept pecking at her, which makes sense because he said the female has been laying and sitting, so they are protecting "their" pond.

I am definitely going back. I may get very wet. I don't know how deep that pond is but I don't want to leave her. I hated leaving her to begin with but we stood by the car for about 30 minutes just waiting for her to come off the pond but it didn't work. Next time I'll tell him not to throw a ton of food in the water, cause she filled up quickly.

Did that little duck get saved? I've been keeping up with my cell phone internet. It is just hadr to write anything ledgeabl because the keys are to small, and my fingers too big.

You are not going to believe this, but I think I have a call chicken hatching. It is not making any noise, but the timing is right. The duck eggs have a waxy feel to them. I don't know how I got them mixed up??? The ducks have been laying in the chicken nests trying to confuse me.

HAHAHAHA OMG your in the club, oh wait. SURPRISE!!!! Lol
