Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Whelp got one externally pipped and one internally pipped!! 10 eggs total!! Here's to hoping I wake up to some babies. Though truth be told I like to be awake for them to hatch. The humidity spikes something terrible when they hatch out and I always get paranoid it will drown the other eggs.

I know. I hate the Easter hype too. It's the same with chicks and bunnies too.

Not my mandies lol. You will just have to ship the ducklings to me ;) Mine tend to lay in the same nest too but my ducks are separated from my chickens. Mandies are usually tree layers but anything is possible lol. Fingers crossed that all babies hatch for you. Let me know if and when you still want to swap some eggs. I have an order that I'm collecting for this week but will have more next we ..I would rather send you chicks that have been started. The post office messes eggs up bad. They are much more carefull with live chicks plus they will be hatching with calls, that will help them get started eating and drinking. I can send them with food and grow gel, and a heat packet if needed. I don't want to send you chicken eggs by mistake either.

You can trade for call ducklings. They can be safelly shipped at 3 weeks. I will try to imprint with them before I send them. You can re use the box I send the mandies in.

I am hatching magpie now, what other colors do you have? I would like white, buff, pastel... anything other than mallard. Adult hens would be nice too...

How many do you want? And what do you think would be a good trade?

That works for me too. It's up to you, whatever you think is fair. I'm pretty easy to deal with :) I don't have any gray calls except the pied so shouldn't be any worries there. I would like another pair or 2 of mandies and a pair of spotted calls. I'm ok with a few straight run ducklings too. Whatever works for you. I don't have any call hens but have about 14 eggs in the incubator right now and 1 that's about 6 wks old now. I can't wait for her back to finish feathering in. Her feather color looks beautiful. I had 1 egg that was supposed to hatch today but quit yesterday. I opened it today and it was indeed a little pied duckling :(. Looked like it had hit a vein or something because it was filled with blood. Anyway, I would gladly trade some ducklings with you once they hatch. My white calls aren't laying yet, only my buff, silver apricot, penciled, blue penciled and pied. If you want to trade for those that would be great. I can send pictures of the babies as they start to feather in and you can pick the ones you want.

Oh yea I would love to have buff. Just wait untill I send your ducks first. Do you prefure white or regulal mandarin. I don't know which pair is laying. If i give you one of each, their babies should be both types. I have not looked it up yet. So I am just guessing.

No rush. Whenever is convenient for you. I would like to have whites too but either white or normal or both is good for me. I believe the mix of the 2 would produce all normals split to white. Then if I breed those to another white it should produce both. I'm pretty sure anyway lol.

Oh, and my buff hen (brat lol) has been hanging out with my silver apricot pair and breeding with that male. Their baby is the 1 that I have who is 6 wks old now. She's feathering in exactly like the pictures on the call calculator.

Fingers crossed. I always worry about the same thing too lol

Ugh my luck. One dead in shell this morning. It looks like it grew too big for the shell? It had an open wound type spot on the back on its neck that wasn't fully formed.

Also heard from the guy I was supposed to get some spotted calls from, I guess his hen was sitting and they weren't in a bator. She got off the nest and it got too cold so all pipped and died but one. It does have spots but he refuses to ship and 6 hours is too far to drive for one duckling.

I was going to buy some more eggs in an auction that ends tonight, but I'm getting so tired of the dud batches of eggs!!!

Also, if anyone wants call ducklings let me know. Have several still, I really need to move them too because these are from my call ducks so don't want to keep too many of them!!! They do follow me around though :) which is pretty cool.
