Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I don't see any liquid inside the air spaces of either of them. But their beaks are just barely into the air space. Not like others I've hatched in the past whose whole heads looked like they were in the air space

Good on the liquid, they are being confined right now that's why there beaks are barely showing. The thick liquid will keep them stuck. Give them there due date isn't there due date Monday. Don't do anything right now.

Whew, I still have movement in my eggs. Now I have to worry about them getting sticky since the humidity was at 65 grrrr.

Good first step . Hopefully they won't get sticky since it was just for a short time.

I don't know how I would get a picture of mine having to hold the egg, the light and the camera. Will see if I can figure out a way though

Yes, due date is Monday but they always come a day early.

1st one didn't make it through the night. I opened him this morning. What a mess. WAY more sticky then any I've dealt with in the past which also didn't allow him to absorb his yolk. The other little guy is still hanging in there. Hopefully he makes it.

Oh no I am so sorry. gosh we are all having such terrible luck? I really think ours is due to the humidity outside though, it's just too darn wet!!!

As far as safe holing, I probably do roughly 18 hrs too. Then again I also wait to open them up after safe holing, probably over 24 hrs. I go off the duck.

I peel at the eggs, and if they Chirp I know they are good. The closer they get to hatching, they chirp louder, and longer. If they haven't externally pipped themselves and they start slowing down their chirping (ie getting tired) I get them out.

I have a really hard time showing restraint.

I think I may give Lori a heart attack one day lol

Fingers are double and triple crossed for your other little one!

I have to go to my parents and take care of their pets for a while and if the 2nd one is still alive when I get back home I may go ahead and safe hole him. I just don't know what to do really. The last one was filled with so much goop but his membrane was dry. I wonder if safe holing will allow moisture to get to the membrane. ???

If he is internally pipped personally I think safe holing will help regardless. (Don't beat me Lori lol) that was my problem with the last batch as well. Honestly I didn't know what to do.

I made a small hole a little bigger then a safe hole because I was worried about her membrane being dry like the other. Sure enough it was completely dry. Veins were absorbed so I opened her and popped her little head out. Yolk is not quite absorbed but not bad. She's not quite as sticky as the last either. I bumped the humidity to 75% and hopefully she'll be able to finish absorbing. For reference, the green eggs are from the pied so it's my apricot silver hen who isn't laying yet.
