Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Oh.... and I'm sure Lori will beat me for that one too. I just couldn't stand it any longer. She never would have made it out of there with her membrane as dry as it was. Maybe could have waited longer but she might not have made it like the other. She still might not but I'm a little more hopeful now.

I made a small hole a little bigger then a safe hole because I was worried about her membrane being dry like the other. Sure enough it was completely dry. Veins were absorbed so I opened her and popped her little head out. Yolk is not quite absorbed but not bad. She's not quite as sticky as the last either. I bumped the humidity to 75% and hopefully she'll be able to finish absorbing. For reference, the green eggs are from the pied so it's my apricot silver hen who isn't laying yet.

If you have onions toss some in. That seriously helps believe it or not. That is also thanks to Lori :) taught me that trick.

Yeah she taught me that with my first hatching last year. Woo the smell but whatever works lol

I just checked on her and she's about done absorbing what was left. She's moving around like she wants to come out. She's even lifting and moving her little wings now and then like she's flapping lol. I have to leave in about an hour for a class for work but hopefully won't be gone for more than hour. I will check her yolk again before I go.

1st one didn't make it through the night. I opened him this morning. What a mess. WAY more sticky then any I've dealt with in the past which also didn't allow him to absorb his yolk. The other little guy is still hanging in there. Hopefully he makes it.

OH BOY, there's really Not a lot you can do when they get sooo Sticky. I know, I tried everything. I need to figure out a way to absorb basically GLUE because when they get to sticky that's about what you deal with it glue. I don't know if there's anything solution to do so but I guess I'll be experiencementing..
