Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Ok so one duck is moving it's bill around but the other is just sitting there barely moving and the membrane around the chick is like slimy yellow looking. I still see veins go I'm going to wait but do u think I should help once it absorbs the veins and yolk

Ok I did and they keep poking at the hole and I can see the little bills!!

This is just my opinion, but don't let them keep struggling to get out too long. They will keep trying until they die from exhaustion. I would candle them to see if all the blood veins have dried out. And if they are also wiggling freely inside the egg, (You can feel it if you hold the egg) If so, it is time to help. Very carefully. remove the shell around the air hole. Wet the membrane so you are sure there are no more active blood veins. keep re-wetting every two hours with a damp q-tip. They should be able to free themselves when they are ready. Remember, don't go much past the air pocket, and don't let the membrane dry out. Don't get anxious and hurry things to fast. That will kill them too.

Keep calm, that is the most important thing. If you get advice from Lori, she knows much more than I do.

Good luck! Hope they all make it safely out.

Safe holes are just tiny holes. You shouldn't be able to see anything if made correctly. If you can see in then the holes are too big. But yes, if yellow and gooey then they will probably need help. Make sure the membrane stays wet and clear of the nostrils while the veins absorb. I use a qtip wet with clean water to rub on the membrane to keep it wet.

I will be sending you the eggs as soon as I get them, and to Lori too. I am pretty sure you will get spotted, and magpie. Now that is not freezing here over here all the eggs will be just fine. nine out of ten I set develop. My modified  egg turner is just great. I can just slip them out, candle them, and  easily put them back.
in. None have fallen out.  :)
