Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Since u guys understand ducks and the love for them, I just looked up apricot calls on the world wide WEB, get it? and they are not only beautiful but so horribly cute with their super round bodies, round heads and puffy cheeks, stout bills, diminutive size and the feet just kill me. If I ever see one in person I will flip out. Amykins, how do you function around Wobbles? I'd never be able to keep my wits about me around one.

Ha, sometimes I don't! There are moments when he does something so silly or cute all I can do is stand there and make this face:



But honestly, other than the fact that he needs a girlfriend BADLY having house ducks really is a joy. If you have no other pets in the house, I'd actually recommend them as pets; they're affectionate, wacky, silly, adorable, and such a joy to keep. House ducks are kind of like human infants mixed with lovebirds: They need diaper changing, they bond VERY strongly with you, they require constant feeding, love, and attention, and if you only have one you can't ever leave it alone. But a pair can bond with one another even if they're imprinted on you.

I am a renter in a townhouse and so my landlady would never allow it.

I also live in a townhome, although I own mine. The HOA doesn't allow any pets other than cats, but they've become pretty relaxed, I've even seen some dogs (which have always been banned on the premeses) in the windows of people's homes. The poop really isn't that big of a deal, and the feathers vacuum right up!

Ha, sometimes I don't! Oh, that face you put up so perfectly runs the gamut of emotions that I can truly imagine with a precious little duck like a Wobbles. It's perfect in what it expresses to the point it's having an effect on me. How wonderful. I wish I could do it but my lifestyle wouldn't allow it and that would be grossly unfair to the ducks. It will be something I will consider when I retire in 10 or so years. For now my two zebra finches are all that I can handle and they are so easy. But in the meantime I am thoroughly entertained by Wobbles and your writings Amykins along with the other great regulars on here ie 18angoven and Lacrystol. Keep the call duck world coming, everyone!!

So today I was seperating my silkie roosters from my ducks and my dog jumps TWO 4 foot tall fences and jumps in with the poultry!!! I got her out VERY fast and scolded her. She is now sulking on MY bed. I walk in the room and she looks at me all sad and slowly walks away. She is so funny.

That's the second time this week...she had one of your birds by the neck last time! I'm worried for the poor things...I wonder, maybe the head feathers are falling out due to stress? ...Nah. It's gotta be the roo.

Oh man. Glad everyone is ok. I've trained my pooch over the years to protect "mommy's kids" lol. He checks all the coops several times a night and lays in the middle of the yard while they free range during the day. He's such an amazing dog. I lost my french bulldog last week. He couldn't protect a fly but he sure loved the chickens. The chicks would literally lay with him and dust bathe in the dirt next to him while he nuzzled and sniffed them. His loss has definitely taken a toll on my mastiff and he's just now starting to show signs of happiness again after a week and a half of depression type behavior. He finally came and snuggled with me in bed this morning before we got up. He was definitely his buddy and will be missed by both of us for a long time to come.

Oh man. Glad everyone is ok. I've trained my pooch over the years to protect "mommy's kids" lol. He checks all the coops several times a night and lays in the middle of the yard while they free range during the day. He's such an amazing dog. I lost my french bulldog last week. He couldn't protect a fly but he sure loved the chickens. The chicks would literally lay with him and dust bathe in the dirt next to him while he nuzzled and sniffed them. His loss has definitely taken a toll on my mastiff and he's just now starting to show signs of happiness again after a week and a half of depression type behavior. He finally came and snuggled with me in bed this morning before we got up. He was definitely his buddy and will be missed by both ofus for a long time to come.

She is fine when I just let the chicken free range or when my uncles tturkeys or geese come in my yard. But when things start get a little "rambucsious" I think her instincts kick in and she cant control herself. When the ducks see her they quack and try to fly and that gets her going. I have a hilarious video of a bold turkey that ran up to her. Long story short she was chasing away a flock of 45 turkey and going crazy. I had turkeys in my trees around my house for days after that. One big tom tried to fly into the tree but weighed too much and litterally flew straight into the tree. My dog jumped around like it was a big game. Luckily she didnt actually try to hurt them. Yesterday was the first time she actually picked one up in her mouth! The rest of the time she just tries to play with them. I am worried because whenever she gets a toy with a squeaker in it she makes it her mission to rip the toy apart and get the squeaker. I am scared she is going to try and get the squeaker out of one of my ducks! Clousert you should add yourself to the call duck breeder list 2015.

I'm so sorry...I love French bulldogs, they're such an awesome breed, and yours sounded especially sweet. I'm glad the mastiff is starting to cheer up a bit, but are you holding up okay?

Lol. Mine do the same thing with squeekers. They just have to get the squeeker lol. FL prohibits calls from being loose or free ranging so the dogs have never been that close to them. I wouldn't imagine that they'd be any different with them then the chickens but who knows. Next year I plan to be moved into a new place in the carolinas so hopefully they'll get lots more room to roam. Still won't allow them to free range because of their size but they'll get a lot more space to roam and their very own enclosed pond

I'm not really a big breeder. Mainly just a hobby. I usually just trade eggs and rarely actually sell them. Maybe after the move and I get settled in I will add myself. Thanks
