Call Ducks Finally Hatched

My Winter will be 3 weeks old on Sunday. Is she old enough for peas? I really want to give her some tonight after her bathtime.

i asked when should i stop giving them start and grow and start them on regular feed so they dont get leg problems.

Flock raiser is fine but layer crumbles have too much calcium for a duckling that is not using it to produce eggs

Any advice would be welcome I'm not sure where to post this :)

I don't know what breed the brown ones are. The darker ones I'm guessing are rouen. The store carried mallard rouen indian runner pekin.

Also, a lot of wing and leg problems come from too much protein and/or calcium as their bodies are developing. Start and grow only has 18% protein and is recommended from hatch to laying age. Here is a quote from their own product

Start & Grow

Optimum nutrition for raising laying chicks from hatch to laying age (18-20 weeks). This complete feed with 18% - protein and quality nutrients is perfect for a strong start and early hen development. Formulated with prebiotics, probiotics and yeast to support optimum digestive health and immune function.

Flock raiser has 20% protein and is also fine to give from hatch to laying age. This is what i feed all of my ducklings until they start laying. I don't have any wing or leg problems here. Here is the quote from it

Flock Raiser

A 20%-protein nutrient-rich ration that provides starting, growing and finishing nutrition for broiler/meat bird or a mixed flock of chickens, ducks and geese from hatch until laying age (18-20 weeks chickens, 20-24 weeks ducks; geese start laying the spring after they were hatched) and for turkeys from 8-10 weeks until laying age of 30-32 weeks.Optimum nutrition for healthy meat birds and mixed poultry flocks. Formulated with prebiotics, probiotics and yeast to support optimum digestive health and immune function.

Layer feed is for laying birds. Period

Sorry I can't be of help on them as I've never owned or raised any other breed of ducks. Their crests sure are cute though :)

what age should i take them off of start and grow and begin the layer crumbles that the breeder recommended

Starter/Grower should be given for the first 10 weeks of life, then Grower/Finisher after, and Layer Crumbles during breeding season when they are laying. That's all I've ever done with my Calls. They love it and have absolutely no problems with their legs or their wings! :)
